vs Gangryoung:
Lol… The U2 I did was in anticipation of an EX dash punch as I thought it’s rather safe at that distance and I mostly use it as a safe gamble rather than a punish cos ultras does no stun and a combo deals almost the same dmg unless Guile has it maxed. I wouldn’t have played with him if I knew it was a best of 3 cos it gets pretty boring and draggy if either player plays lame and also just lets the other person read you more.
Now that I can view my own replays, I think I should have just nj at about half screen or more when he does turn punch over a boom instead of trying for backfist.
And Boxer’s U2 is actually a pretty good anti-safejump tool.
Other than the punishes that’s a very very solid Guile, though.
Reminds me a bit of Dieminions Guile…
Guile from the top psn jap replays. Not HAV’s.
If you know a divekick is going to whiff on the other side, (keep in mind this is just a thought), would a UDK come in handy here? Or is the timing too strict?
EDIT: Noticed the Guile doing Ultra 1 motion at the last whiffed tatsu.
If Akuma does a high divekick(anti-SRK divekicks) immediately after hitting you with his SRK, Guile can dash forward and df.hk to punish the divekick. I think UDK might trade or get stuffed. And it won’t hit if you do it late cos it’s too slow.
But wouldn’t it take more frames to do a forward dash > df hk than a UDK?
Edit: Ah wait, I just envisioned what you wrote. Nevermind.
Yeah… it’s not my Guile. I just find matches, and post them up. It’s been extremely difficult for me to find a Guile worth posting, but I thought this guy was pretty decent.
I’ll say what I say on all the boards (since they’re all the same really…), which is to just watch the matches and try to pick up what you can pick up. Tearing apart every missed opportunity is a waste of your time. It’s a way of watching these videos, that is based purely in ego. “I woulda done this”, “Oh… he missed that”… it’s all kinda pointless, IMO. There are things to look at, strategies to consider, tactics to learn and possibly assimilate.
Nobody is claiming anybody I post is gonna be perfect. We’re all works in progress, yes… even the Japanese… so just because you see something you don’t agree with, or something you know is just bad… there’s next to zero point in discussing that.
Just my two cents… not really trying to come at anybody negatively or anything… just trying to get people to stop watching vids as spectators, critiquing every little thing, instead of trying to learn.
Ya, I normally treat most vids that pop up as critiqueing opportunities, just because most people who post up their vids are sometimes looking for that. I’m also an asshole from time to time. shrug
=p
If I linked a vid, would you critique those for me?
I actually got lots of good ideas from your critiques, so please go on.
I am but a humble servant. Feel free if your having trouble with anything.

Hey guys, I’m really interested in learning Guile but I don’t really have any background in zoning . Are there any videos in particular that I should watch which demonstrate some ideal Guile play or his fundamentals or something like that?
