SSF2T vs HSF2A? Why?

why is ultracade even brought up? lol, that thing is horrible in every aspect.

ive never had a problem with hf arcade speeds from board to board. maybe a slight difference based off stage, possible. but then again ST is like this too. and so is AE, ae speed is not 100% consistent from stage to stage. so that argument is pretty moot =/

Good point. Although FWIW, I think this idea is also why the game gets as much flak as it does from the ST crowd. You can’t really use it as a substitute to play ST, which kinda sucks. Either way, I do like your idea though. I’d be much more interested in a turbo speed SSF2 tourney than an anything-goes AE tourney. It’s too bad that something like that never seems to happen.

Actually, I played HF at a tourney this past weekend at Cal Poly and it seemed crazy slow to me. If the speed of HF boards really do vary, that would explain it. Sadly, most of my HF experience over the past few years has been on XBL and Ultracade machines, so I just chalked it up to that. But this makes me feel less crazy, so I’m willing to believe it

hf speed, when compared to ST speed(free select t2 or t3) is slower. ultracade HF will be super fast, or really slow, depending on stage(rog stage is blazing fast), so that version is night and day on its issues. HF on xbl is a ps1 port, not well known for its stunning accuracy.

ive never had problems going from hf cabinet to hf cabinet in my life. i just dont see how its possible that speeds vary from board to board. maybe from region to region or a rom revision, i can see that. but not just from board to board on the same version. i just dont believe that

also, i think AE works well for a better version of ssf2 and CE since now you get speed, but other than that, meh, just for fun

LOL I haven’t seen Vintage post in here in like 7 months but mention SSF2 in a thread and he comes out with 2 pistols in the air

Ima hard core ST head so put my vote down for that.

AE’s a decent replacement for ST in my opinion. They nerfed O. Sagat and fixed reversals for a couple characters. I doubt we’ll see anyone make the switch though. Not unless Japan did as well.

kyokuji: too bad st vega is messed up, and the fact that st characters cant tech throws unless its against ST NEW characters only. cant even do it vs old ST characters, wtf. dropped the ball hard there

DGV is just uberobsessed with SSF2 for some reason. I can’t believe someone could be so into a SNES game, but to each his own, we all like some funky stuff =P

waits for DGV to come in shooting

Ah, yeah. I forgot about Claw. Didn’t know about the tech issue though. You’d think they could’ve spent another week in development and fixed that crap.

I kinda like the fact that the ST characters can’t tech the O. and Super character’s throws, it helps balance things out since the ST version for almost every character is better (and makes up for the fact they don’t have Supers).

Whenever I play AE with friends we basically segregate the games, either use only Super and ST versions of characters or only WW, CE, or HF versions (basically either CPS1 only or CPS2 only).

I do think HF vs. Super and ST isn’t unbalanced and allows for some interesting match-ups. It’s basically just CE that throws everything off. If you left out CE the game would be very interesting at a high level.

Personally, I see playing the games as “seperate” instead

You take out all the CE nonsense the game isn’t really that unbalanced. Matches like ST Ryu vs. HF Ryu are interesting, each one has different strengths. HF Honda vs. ST Sim, Super Chun vs. HF Guile, etc.
