@Plaid_Unicorn Is it possible we can make some changes to the rules for the next season? We’re going to have 8 player lobbies finally in the March update so we can turn the weekly ranbats into an even bigger community / spectator event. Here are my ideas:
As someone who actively participated the skullgirls ranbats in the past, we’ve been running essentially a worse version of that.
Let’s have our ranbats be one day out of the week. This ensures that everyone gets to play everyone on a weekly basis (not just one person a week) and people can drop in and out as they please. This way our community can regularly play together and level up. It was a very cool and educational experience being able to regularly play the top skullgirls players as well as the rest of the community in a set every single week. Points would be tallied and added to the rankings listed in the OP at the end of each Ranbat.
Time will be an issue for people so we’ll just have multiple ranbats separated be region similar to what we have currently. People are encouraged to actively participate in the weekly ranbats but not expected. Allowing people to actively participate or not participate will ensure we always have an active community.
We will have 8 person lobbies in the new update. The PS4 allows us to stream to twitch natively, so we can create lobbies for players to compete in on stream. One player (mod) shall serve as the host for each region and invite 2 other players to play their matches within the lobby. For time sake, not all matches will be streamed. It will be up to mod to decide what matches to stream. Having a weekly twitch stream will create a lively foundation for our community (including spectators) to actively gather to and community with each other in real time. Think: srk live, Panda x gaming, peaceful Jay, etc. All Ranbat discussion such as match invitations and match results will still be done inside discord.
We should delete all discord servers and be united under one discord server. Regions shall be separated by channels within the same server (similar to what was done recently).
Let’s have each Ranbat, respective players, rankings, and all other information be listed and updated in the OP in an easy and concise manner. We can use spoilers to achieve this.
Points are tallied up for the season and winner will earn bragging rights. We can list each season champion as well in the OP. If people want to see a tournament of the highest ranked players at the end of the season, that option always there too. This would be another thing spectators (aka non participants) can look forward to watching on stream.
Rules are similar to an irl tournament bracket. 1 set of best of 2/3 matches (not multiple sets like we’ve been doing) and loser can change characters just like a tournament. Matches should be set to character select ON and first to 1 so the players can switch characters in between matches if need be. People would be playing everyone in the Ranbat so we don’t have time for extended sets.
Working on getting everyone’s tourney link on the main op, we are just missing two, I will get those updated tonight. They should have been posted in everyone’s discord room however, If there was confusion on what your particular bracket looked like, there should have been a link in the discord server.
@TheBlackHombre we are currently talking about changes we are going to make and you have some good ideas however I am not sure how much we would implement. Time is certainly a factor for everyone, including the mods and that set up is really time intensive on the mods more than anyone else. I do have some questions about how all of that works though, I will send you a PM. I don’t have much faith it what the 8 man lobbies will look like upon release, I originally envisioned something like you mentioned but we are limited at the time and in the near future. A few of the things you suggested has been mention in this thread, and are in the process of being implemented.
I know another mod mentioned it earlier but we are only going to work on knocking out one tournament per division for this week.
I won my match against Killusion 2-1.
Im travelling after today so I cant play until Sunday or Monday. If that is a problem you can drop me from the tournament.
You’re gonna have to PM me those screenshots @“The Martian” , cause your guys’ dispute is one of the main roadblocks that has prevented me from having the matches set up for this week. I looked at Discord and it looks like @MrMelonGod reported in on Sunday whereas you didn’t.
Just a memo to those who have matches in the first round, you must have your matches completed by Friday midnight. This has to get moving along. We apologize for any confusion. Please bare with us. This is our first go-around and things will be much smoother the next time we do this. Thanks.
Don’t know how I missed that, I’ll go ahead and update my player roster. @“Trouble Brewing” I’m gonna get you an update ASAP, looks like there’s another match that may see one player being DQ’d as well…
