Megaman X & Gene are pretty much the holdouts I want the most in any situation.

Groot: The Marvel cast is tricky for me to come up with since I don’t follow comics, but I looked up Groot because of Rocket Raccoon. A big tree? Who can grow and use vegetation to his advantage? Hell yes, that has serious character potential! I can easily see him being a big zoner, able to give himself super armour and root opponents in place. He also has a good chance since Marvel wants to promote Guardians of the Galaxy. Of all the 10 I can think of for this list, this guy’s probably my favourite.
Besides, just think about how cool it’d be, seeing a giant tree take point on a team in a Major, backed by a Log Trap assist.
Dr. Octopus: Capcom already considered him, so this wouldn’t be too much extra work. Besides, more Spidey villains are a must, and Doc Ock’s limbs have a bit to add to the game - especially if they could go to super jump height!
Ms. Marvel: A little more female representation wouldn’t hurt, would it? 'Sides, she’s meant to be a good character.
[S]Samuel L. Jackson[/S] Nick Fury: Having SHIELD tech on hand would be pretty handy, wouldn’t it?
Anti-Venom: As someone who doesn’t keep up with comics, this guy seems interesting. I’d be glad to have an anti-hero that isn’t a dick, too.

Megaman X: Go on, Capcom, let the fans have their fun. I’ve not played a Megaman game, but I’m just imagining how I’d feel if Smash didn’t have Mario. I’d be very sad then.
Vanessa Schneider: Haven’t played P.N.03 but have often been curious. With the emphasis she has on evasive movement and long-distance fighting, she could be a keepaway character with phenomenal movement. Just imagine a fighter with an execution barrier that’s nigh-on untouchable!
Fire Leo: Anyone who’s played Viewtiful Joe remembers this glorious boss. With his tornado spinning, charging and cluster-spewing, there’s a lot Capcom could do with him.
Sigma: Just to make Diek Stiekem a prophet.
Asura: Him and the Hulk would probably have a lot to ‘talk’ about.
