Heh. I remember fighting your Ryu once in an online tourney… a few months ago? From what I remember it was a solid Ryu. Hard for me to get in on, and shut me down for the set. Good Ryu’s are hard to find. Viper and Abel’s are cool too. Shoot me an invite, or an add any time.
Yo i’m currently looking for good Sagat players.
I need to get in depth with this matchup.
So add me : Death N0te LK
Please have a mic.
OK. Now that we’ve had a set some feedback.
Guile: Two issues that stuck out to me were
A- You use Flash Kick too much. Against a naked jump in, yeah. You can probably beat our your opponents. But it has lost a lot of priority in SF IV compared to older SF games. Rose can beat even an EX FK with J LK. Though you also tended to use it to try to stuff my pokes on the ground, and whiffed a lot. It felt like you were treating FK like it was Ryu’s LP SRK to beat out my pokes. If I was more on the ball I used have Ultra’d more often than I did.
B - Avoid Guile’s cr RH. I tend to freeze up, and block both hits, but I’m trying to break myself of that habit. Some characters can Ultra between hits. One option available to every character is after blocking the first hit, FA the second. Someone with better reflexes than me would punish that consistently.
Your teching skills are excellent. I’m a throw happy player. Hell, Rose players in general tend to be throw happy. You tech’d probably a good 3/4 of my throw attempts or more. I had to give up on trying to throw you after sliding under your jump in attempts, and started going for Rose’s BnB combo.
I’ll be on all day today, just send me a friend request/ invite and I’ll play.

Great games - and I’m glad we played past the initial lag.
Once again, I struggled against a patient Ryu like yours. Great patience, spacing & zoning. You asked me for advice after the matches, but it should be the other way around … I should ask you for advice on how to control the tempo like you did. Very nice job. It’s almost to the point where I feel like I’m playing Ryu completely wrong, after my sessions with you and Kyarisan … I need a lot more to learn.
Anyway, the only negatives I could see, were the excessive focus attacks … you would throw them out in bunches. I would just throw you, but I think better players would find ways to punish you harder. Also, when you landed the focus attack, you kept just doing crouching forward > Tatsu (or something) - I think you could punish harder on a lot of your openings.
But like I said, you should be the one giving me the advice.
To anyone else out there, please add me as a friend on XBL, I would really appreciate all the training I can get. I can read the “match-ups” but nothing’s better than actually going through it. *

Thanks*
Got my tournament stick coming in tomorrow, so when I got free time and get adjusted I’ll start doing matches with people in here, seems like a lot of fun and everyone is learning.

Good game, I’m sorry I cut-out, I had an important call to take. But from that game we played, or game & a half - very nice Ken. Your Ken is very aggressive which plays in to how I usually play, and sometimes that gets you in trouble. I felt like I was playing myself for a min.
Hope to play you more …

GG’s, very patient Chun. Your advice is correct. I need to work on my footsies. If you read any of the post I put up after my sessions, you’ll note that I admit to my weaknesses … spacing/footsies/zoning. But Chun forces me to try and be patient, so what you saw isn’t usually how I play, but that’s a good thing (for me) b/c I think your Chun made me play better/smarter. I was forced to respect your spacing, pokes, so I laid off a little.
You had some nice block strings, and you played good mind games with me. There were times you’d patiently walk in and out of throw range, and then throw me. Nicely done.
The only advice I can give is just to work on the execution a little more. I know the 3-bar connection probably had something to do with it, but you missed a ton of openings, as I made a lot of mistakes. And you jumped in a lot. When I play Chun’s usually they never jump in. I’m not a Chun expert, so I don’t know which is better though.
Other than that, thanks for playing a solid Chun and helping me learn more.
Thank you.
First let me apologize for the initial XBL msg - I know at times text can come across terse. But more importantly, I am sorry for the inconsistent performance. My execution was just terrible this evening (and it doesn’t help that I need a “third eye” to watch my daughter from tearing up the living room – she’s been put to bed now). That lack of focus sadly had me foolishly jumping like a bunny rabbit, which is foolish. (I SHOULD know better, hahaha).
As for the connection, it is what it is – I’ll keep playing someone whether I get a streak or not and only choose to bow out if I feel there’s nothing I can learn from that during that session.
Anyways, on to the “critique”. I think that you have all the potential to stand out as one solid Ryu player who is capable of balancing his spacing/zones and combos seamlessly. Much of your attempts to space were mainly with cr. mk, which obviously would lead to a free 2-in-1 damage opportunity; and as such why I endeavored to stay just outside your range of attack.
It’s vital to also be just as formidable with your normal moves (besides just st. rh, but all the other facets that apply to ground and air attacks). My guess is that you’re not quite confident or perhaps you’re satisfied with the tool set you’re working with. It’s generally best to at least explore the diversity so that you’ll know how to change up according against other players where certain techniques may not work effectively.
I’d recommend learning other BnBs besides wailing on jabx2/3 to dp. WAY too many players online rely on this setup alone and gives them this belief that this tactic will also work online (generally, it doesn’t). There are other unique ways to establish damage which you’ll discover as you come across other skilled shoto players.
Until next time!

Great games earlier. I wanted to stop after the first match because of lag, but I decided to keep playing and it ended up smoothing out.
One thing I noticed is that, you jumped in wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much; so eventually I began to walk backwards slightly and you would jump, and I would DP you. Find other ways to get in, even if you have to block a 100 fireballs. Another thing is do not ever do hurricane kicks randomly, only reason I began to was to try to show you that, it is not a good idea.
I tried to do what I usually do, but there is to much lag. You can ask everybody else, I always maximize the damage after a fa lv3. This is exactly what I do: f+hp, c.lp, c.hp xx hk tatsu.
I do it a lot, but in that match I did it more than usual because I was getting frustrated. Once people start empty jumping into throws, that’s when I stop doing it so much.
Anyways, what you can do is learn to keep your ground, and practice some foward fierce links. There is more, but just work on those.
kK, Here’s the updated Schedule for folks registered on the upcoming XBL Tournament Sunday, November 22nd at 6pm Eastern time.
If you’d like to be registered. Send me a pm or visit quakenet.org, channel is #streetfighter4. Ask for Nemesys and I’ll get you registered asap.
I don’t see my name on there, but i did get your PM about being in it.
You’ve been added Phatal.
Just to let everyone know the brackets will be created in the same spreadsheet linked up above. It’s currently in the process of being built as we speak. If we can get at least 32 XBLer’s, it’ll definitely kick things into gear.
Or ask for DarthPaul1982 or illwill79…
Anyone on wanna throw down?
I’d love to play ya sometime. i think i actually sent you a FR a month or so ago.
I use Bison, so if you want to play ill be on later tonite for a while

Got my TE stick in today, and it’s like relearning how to do fighters all over again. It’ll take a while to adjust but I am determined to learn a stick, seems the only way I can progress past the point I am at right now.
I do, I need to learn more about the Honda match up. I’m down to play whenever.
Nemesys, i’m from NY if that helps to make the brackets more region-friendly (less lag please!!!)
