Anyone up for some right now? east coast (FL) Gen player. My connection is behaving tonight!
gg to gamertag Syc45 (Ryu)
You need to work on you spacing/ zoning, especially since Ryu has very effective tools for that. You kept letting me jump in for free, which will lose to Gen pretty much 90% of the time. Work on the shoryukens and other anti airs. (Maybe standing roundhouse?) Do your best to keep your opponent grounded and in front of you. You were doing a better job of that later in our set, but as soon as you stopped I took the momentum and the match.
I will be on around 12:30 pacific time. I really want to be a part of this since casual game play will be limited because of work. I wil try to add people and see if I catch any one on.
vs. JuIcYMaKiN
I don’t know what happened there between us, but I enjoyed our few matches overall.
Your Akuma still jumps like he’s straight out of Super Smash Bros. You need to be much more moderate regarding your jumping. If I was familiar with this matchup with Viper, and better with her too, this wouldn’t have ended well probably.
Aside from her, you were heavily subjected to my EX Guacamole Slews. But you kept the pressure on me with the spam and normal combos nonetheless.
Your Sagat felt similar, but never, and I mean never, jump with Fuerte involved. From my experience, you’re better off on the ground, and cancel into Tiger Knee instead of standalone since this sets grabs, or worse, the RSF when I pull it off finally.
VS. EyeLoveSF4
GG’s man ,I really like playing you and your ryu because you are such an aggresive player and your execution is so crisp. sometimes when i tried to AA you with a SRK it wouldn’t come out so that was why i was just using c.hp.
It felt that the only way i would be able to pull off wins against you was to play somewhat unpredictably and try to win ugly. You did a really good job of getting one knockdown and basically take that momentum , overwhelm me and take the round with out any resistance from me.
Lately i have been trying to mix up my style and get more offensive, i think that is why iam doing the same pattern with throws. you also mix up your throw game very well , whenever i thought you were going to tech you continued on with a frame trap , and vice versa.
Thanks for all the tips about my game. I was also going to mention about your jumpins after a c.hp reset but you already mentioned it. Your fireball game has really improved and i think you should stick with it more in your gameplan. You continously fuck me up with your well timed FA’s and i really need to train myself not to attack when you charge the FA in my c.mk range. GS for your use of FAs.
GG’s once again. Next time i will get some vids for us to analyze.
VS Luken
Ryu has gotten alot better at the FB game and being able to predict me. Your links were still very solid even though I saw you miss a few but that’s understandable. Only thing I would say is try to hold your ground a little bit more a few times you jumped in when you didn’t have to.
Against my Viper you seemed much more confused so I’ll assume you don’t play that match up too often. You don’t wanna do jump ins against her when she has ultra unless it’s a cross up or you are really close because trade or not she’ll get too “attempt” the Ultra. You can’t really throw FB’s at her full screen anymore as she can ground pound you.
That’s all I can really think of for now.
VS Angry Fremen
Sorry for the SUPER late feedback but I’ve been pretty busy.
The one thing that stuck out for me was you didn’t move very much. You should work on your footsies and basics much more because alot of the time you just stood on the other side of the screen. And I thought maybe you didn’t know the characters well but it was with all the characters you picked. It seemed like you were waiting for something but it never came.
Should work on your footsies and zoning then go from there.
Vs. Skatervic216:
Your need to improve on your rush downs with Rufus. Against my Balrog you hardly went for any dive kicks or didn’t pressure too much. Also you need to work on your basic BnB combos. I suggest you hop on that Rufus thread and check out his match ups and strategies. Also I had a lot of broken strings that you should’ve used the EX Messiah on. Abuse that move a lot when people are putting that pressure with broken strings and pokes. Remember if your opponent doesn’t have a DP stay on them with pressure. You tried a couple of FADC ultras with him but you missed all of them. Go to training mode and practice all of your BnB combos and FACD ultra combos. GGs overall.
i’m confused. i just want to play the best player.
weiman (sp? sorry) hook it up.
vs JiveTalknRobot
vs Akuma
Your Akuma has improved!! I saw a lot of air/ground fireballs in our matches and that applied a lot of pressure. Don’t be scared to throw out the red ones though, especially the reds on wake up. Other than that, just watch out when using it. Oh and don’t forget about ex-air balls, i don’t remember if you through those out or not.
You also did Akumas bnb combo which i cant remember you doing that must last time we fought but this time you did it whenever you had an opening.
Something that you lack is the use of the demon flip. There’s a vid on youtube that explains how to use it thoroughly. My cousin mains Akuma too and before his demon flips he was pretty much predictable. Once he started using them he’s been mixing it up a lot and i’m dazed through out our matches. He even perfects me every once in a while due to confusing me and stunning me because of those annoying demon flips(I’ll counter them…eventually lol). So its pretty darn useful to have the demon flip in your arsenal.
Another thing you lack is the use of the teleport. It comes in handy, ESPECIALLY AGAINST VIPER! Man it’s annoying when i get my cousin cornered, i get prepared to do a shenanigan to link with my ultra and poof, there goes my opportunity. So yea, use that when necessary.
Overall, your Akuma is improving pretty quickly and efficiently, just keep at it man.
vs Cammy
Your Cammy was…meh. Your missing her fundamentals and you need alot of work on her. I suggest you focus on Akuma first.
Vs.FierceKick
GG’s man your viper is nice man i wished i had of played a bit better in the tourney though but you win some and you lose some and i experiment with a few things seen some stuff work so i’m happy but i really didn’t see anything wrong with ur game it’s really solid besides a few dropped combo’s other then that you were pretty much on point plus u play viper who i wanted to main at the start of the game but i found out she is ver very technical so when you do a combo on me i made sure i had my popcorn ready was good games
Eyelovesf4
GG’s finally got to play you again and you improved you weren’t as aggressive as u were before or i finally got comfortable with the shoto match up’s idk but it was fun u went up a quick 3-1 in the best of 5 i’m like gd ryu was kinda getting frustrated my ex sbk wouldn’t come out when it should of but something i’m gonna work on not to depend on it in certain situations only thing i really noticed u were really jump happy this time around and got in the habit of throwing out a second fireball when it should of been like one fireball and pause just wait and see what i was gonna do and it lead to me either getting a combo off (which i need to switch up more) or a empty jump in but other then that gg’s
Vaccant1 (Balrog) vs. Geddn (Ryu)
First, the general stuff.
Your at a fun point right now, where you can easily improve your game in a multitude of ways. Before worrying about too much else, I would spend some time in the training room practicing you’re BnB combos, I believe Ryu’s is cr.lp>cr.lp>cr.mk>hadoken, as well as, Shoryuken>FADC>Ultra. You had a lot of missed opportunities to hit me with combos, that damage could have made the difference in a lot of our games.
During games the two big things you can work on are spacing and pressure. Watch how far you are from your opponent and always be thinking about what kind of attacks he can hit you with and which ones you can hit with. Once you get in close, if you are on the offensive, don’t back down. Keep your momentum, work on block strings and keep your opponent guessing with FAs and grabs.
Now the Balrog specific stuff.
A lot of this I already told you. If you don’t play Rog a lot it can be almost impossible to figure out which kind of rush punch is coming out before it’s too late. When Rog is far away, it shouldn’t matter what kind of punch he’s throwing, you can jab him out of it, or neutral jump and punish on the way back down. If Rog is up close and rush punching out of block strings you have to be real careful about the Overhead. Just remember Overhead is the slowest of all rush punches, so watch for that fist to go in the air, the moment you see it grab, jump, shoryuken, or stand up and block.
Also, once you have me away from you, there’s not a lot of reason to come back at me. Throw some fireballs, zone me out, make me come to you. When I’m about 1/3 screen away start looking at what you can do to either put more space between us or how you can get in and start pressuring with your BnB and pokes.
Once you’ve got some combos going and zoning down a bit, challenge me to another set.
vs. MartinRob 9-4 Martin (?)
Every week I think I improve a lot, especially after playing some one from here and playing 16 games vs. one opponent really helps me learn match ups. So every time I face you Martin I’m thinking “Ok, today is the day I beat you.” I seem to forgot that you keep improving very quickly as well. Can you stop playing for a week or two?
Very close games, as always. Our connection was a bit laggy this time. I kept missing simple jump in combos and I assume your game was also a bit off cause of that. I hope you noticed that my tech throws improved. I think you didn’t use cr.fw>fb enough. That usually gives me some problems. I often feel uncomfortable jumping at you, which is very good. But I don’t feel that uncertainty attempting my combos. I don’t know if Ryu has some kind of option select or something where you can try to SRK me when I mess up any combos. I often attempt the cr.lp, cr.mp, whatever thing. You might wanna try to counter between the lp and mp as that’s a 1 frame link and I can easily miss it, especially online. I don’t know if you can do that without getting yourself exposed though. I think we both should also use the FA a bit more.
I really enjoy playing you because of similar skill level. It’s always a challenge and a win after a game like that feels great. GGS.
That’d be me man, jk, lol.
Best? Based on the guys I’ve played so far.
Mr SNK for Honda
Steinmania for Cammy
ookillakellyoo for Gouken
I haven’t played NinjaCW, but seems like he has one of the better Ryu’s from what I’m reading form other people’s feedback.
Thanks Solerion.
Yeah it’s sad, I used to be a lot better with Cammy, but since I’ve been practicing with Akuma she’s kind of gone down hill. I can’t even hit her bnbs.
You’re right on point…Akuma is sorta new to me (picked him up about 3 weeks ago)…so I don’t have a decent grasp of his toolset.
vs Viper
Solid Viper, mixup city. Once I got adjusted I noticed that your crossover flame kicks became somewhat predictable though and for some reason I could tell when you were about to seismo or feint. It was like two feints then a real seismo. So you may not want to pattern that as much.
One thing I noticed is that you don’t poke a lot or play footsies. Is that not a part of Vipers game?
Yea man i know what you mean!! I used to main guile but now i cant pull of his bnbs either. It takes a really long time to get used to a character. The part that takes the most time is learning the match ups. I mained viper not too long ago either but man, i’ve practiced her for HOURS a day. And my progress has been really slow(unlike you). So we’re sorta on the same boat. I just feel that you don’t fight vipers enough. I have another akuma sparring partner and i have mained akuma too. You’ll also encounter more Akumas than Vipers online so i get my daily dosage of Akuma.
Do you use a fightstick or pad?
Viper does have a somewhat footsies game. She pokes, thunderknuckle cancel, another poke, thunderknuckle cancel and repeat. I don’t have this down yet becuase it requires a lot of motions and speed. It’s kinda hard but i’ll get it down eventually. Thanks for the heads up!
Mr SNK beat Gootecks in casuals. Enough said. Too scared to fight him.
Steinmania is one hell of a player. He beat Viscant at WCW and lost to Choi. Choi damnit!!
Haven’t played/seen ookillakellyoo.
I haven’t played NinjaCW but i’ve seen him and i think he’s really a good player.
Street Fighter 4 is the only game I play. I am completely dedicated to it and always willing to play matches. I prefer to play opponets that can whoop me bad to better understand what my weaknesses are. I play the game at least 5 hours a day certain days. I am mostly free Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays for a few hours and some Sundays. Days off limits are wednesdays, fridays late nights and saturdays.

Actually - Stein beat Yeb, Vasaznion beat Viscant’s Gief (despite my decreasing Cammy skills…I’m still a Cammy fan).
I played Gootecks last night in casuals and he sht on my Akuma, absolutely sht on it lol…but it was a good learning lesson (it didn’t help that I got a bit nervous and sort of froze).
Oh, thanks for clearing this up. Where did stein beat yeb?
How’d you fight Gootecks? o_O
Dude we live in SoCal there’s casuals going on all the time at people’s houses.
Stein beat Yeb at West Coast Warzone on the same day and same screen that Allen beat Viscant.
