Yup, thats me, But I train in Seido for the past 4 years. I have the good fortune of training with Kaicho Tadashi Nakamura on occasion. He has given me my belt tests and belts.

Those are really nice Sifu V. I like the first one. Looks like he’s trying to access a secret entrance.

Thanks! Although I guess you’re referring to the ‘Oneil’ picture. I switched them about cos i noticed an error with the BBCode.
I came into owning a DSLR semi recently and have been practicing when I have the time. I’ll see about showing off my amateur stuff here soon.
Nice stuff from those tournaments.
And I love the 5D iii. I’ve used pretty much every major camera from the past couple years aside from the 1D iv and the 5D iii is my favorite. When I’m seriously shooting a sporting event I’ll probably go back to a D3s but the 5D iii will do just fine when I need it and for everything else it’s exactly what I want. People can pixel peep and complain about tech specs all they want, but the 5D iii truly is an incredible camera.
And here’s a frame from a track practice yesterday:

Went to Lexington on Saturday to get some Final Four reaction photos from fans and it ended up blowing up into a full-on riot. Sold some images to AP which have been floating around and Wired did a Raw File post featuring my work after I went back on Monday and shot that stuff as well: http://www.wired.com/rawfile/2012/04/kentucky-wins-but-students-lose-in-basketball-riot-photos/

I collect hot Wheels. I’m about to retake photos of my entire collection to upgrade from the low-res photos I had before I got a T3i and I wanted to take pics at a new angle and this is what I’ve come up with for 2013.

so i’m new to photography and i just got a new camera for christmas. i’ve been trying to watch as many videos and read as much as i can to learn some basics. out of these 2 lenses what one do you prefer? the canon EF 50 mm f/1.8 II or the 40 mm EF f/2.8.
The 50mm f/1.8 will give you better low light options, being 1.3 stops faster than the 40mm f/2.8. That said, the 40mm is nice and small, so if portability is key that’s something to consider.
If you’re brand new to photography, I would recommend picking up Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson … check your local library, too, as it’s often available. That’ll get you off to a good start in understanding how to use shutter/aperture/ISO and that kind of stuff.
And pretty much anything regarding composition (be it for photography or classical art forms) will really help you step up your photography beyond just taking snapshots. This is a great presentation on composition, and you should be able to take a lot away from it even as a beginner.
