So, homonyms can have the same spelling, but not necessarily the same pronunciation? For example… read (past tense) and read (present tense)?

It’s something I never quite understood. Take metric adoption, for example. Why is this so difficult? It’s more appropriate for the stupid! The shit is in base 10!. 1km = 1000m and 1 m = 1,000 mm vs. 1 mi = 5280 ft and 1 ft = 12 in. wtf kind of logic is preferring option number 2 there when the demographic is so fucking dumb?
I… kinda get temp. The temperature of “hot as balls” is around the even 100 mark, whereas it’s 38 via Celcius. On the flipside, 32 is fucking random compared to ZERO.
