Well, I for one think that any form of discussion, as long as it’s being held by the right people, is helpful in a mafia game. If there are no other points which might be overshadowed by this, then I think we should start.
Anyway, @RadicalFuzz, brought up a good point a little while ago…one that I don’t think should be overlooked. He said that Dracula Sacrificed an initiate. It would be a pretty decent play. Van Helsing would have to RC to be able to confirm what happened, leaving him open for an attack…putting whatever shenanigans that the jailer and the soldier have cooked up on hold in order to protect the vigi. I think that I’m just going to look at things like 2 scheming vamps with no biter, and 3 werewolves that are most likely going to target a roleless tonight. Looking at things like this, we only have to worry about one attack tonight. Whether or not the infected will come clean may is definitely going to affect the village’s chances of survival.
I’m honestly, so mind-fucked from everything that happened yesterday it’s not even funny. I might be starting to see that Jesus toast you guys were talking about. For instance, I was pretty sure I knew who Van Helsing, the Jailer, the mayor, the soldier, and a good guess on one of the mafioso were…then I read ALL of the day one stuff again, and now I’m completely lost.
I’m going to go out on a limb and guess Hecatom isn’t the vigilante. I’m guessing the vigilante did vote for The Co Jones and likely another vampire. If Sov said we should look at those who voted for TCJ, maybe we ultimately should.
SumAznDude and Godotsrevenge are 2 of my big suspects.
*1: I never said or insinuated that everyone who voted for Coco is automatically suspicious. Do those who voted for him warrant closer inspection, absolutely. Luckily we also have Soviet being revealed as a Vampire to combine it with.
2: As for why the monsters would help civs, I feel the answer is pretty obvious. In fact if I didn’t know any better the statement you made about the monsters avoiding each other could be read as a Vampire trying to extend a Olive Branch to the werewolf faction. But to answer the question, both factions are fighting over diminishing resources. If they don’t start killing off one another, in the end the winner of the game will be decided by who recruited more people. The werewolves or the vampires? As it stands now the vampires are already losing that fight.
3: Out of all the people who voted for Coco, none of those names immediately rise to the top. Maybe after I reread the thread my stance will change.
At Burnt Toast value, this is what happened last night:
1 Vampire is dead (2 remaining)
SoVi3t was sacrificed.
Van Helsing did nothing last night
Looking deeper in to the Jesus Toast™ scenario, if SoVi3t was sacrificed that means that no Vampire was promoted. This would mean that at night 2, they remain in the same situation as they were in at night 1 with the inability to kill, or convert (unless Dracula is able to promote multiple initiates/converts at once).
That said, it makes me wonder if whoever Dracula is doesn’t understand their role? Too unlikely? Maybe. If the player comes in a reads the role card, it says his ability is to sacrifice a Vampire so… he sacrificed a Vampire. Promote is clearly the better option though right? Why sacrifice first and remain powerless to kill?
Now, looking back at the face value scenario, how likely is it that Van Helsing tags a Mafia (this term is important to make my point) on his first shot?
If Van Helsing is this good we automatically win. But isn’t it convenient that Van hits a Mafia, who is a Vampire, who’s leader has the ability to sacrifice any Vampire to die by the hands of any role he wants?
Suddenly the Jesus Toast™ scenario looks like well… let me just say amen.
Anybody still think day 1/night 1 reads are worthless? Apparently Helsing didn’t think so. Remember when Chief challenged us all to step up our games and keep it moving forward? Let’s do it. Press, read, contribute. We’ll win if we keep it up. Also, Helsing being a strong player gives me more confidence that humans have an advantage. Positive trust. It’ll be a positive cycle since it means people should have less incentive to betray us if bitten.
A vampire dying early gives us some good info. Sovi3t wasn’t acting overly suspicious, so he probably thought he was flying under the radar. I’d feel pretty good about taking a lot of his statements as pure trickery. As @Augustus said, this doesn’t mean people look clean (as they could be wolves), but it might be useful to track down the remaining vampires. And yes, I say that recognizing that Sovi3t pointed me out as someone he didn’t suspect.
We’re almost in the clear on a strategy that I theorized about pre-game, anmd didn’t want to mention until now. That situation is one where the vamps sacrifice for doctor, sending the town into a tizzy and making them think being converted and staying that way is a foregone conclusion. As it stood at the beginning, this was a risky play by the vamps since the wolves benefit too, and vamps had to sacrifice a body to do it. Now their numbers are low, so it’s very unlikely. Again, we’re in a scenario where it makes sense for humans to bond together and do right by one another. If you get bitten tonight, call out.
Highly Lycan. This is what I’m going to keep in mind. No one in the mafia games has a read so well they can just gouge on the first night, not without a second voice in their ear.
Actually, I believe that Mafia can Promote and Sacrifice. Promote is a Major action, while Sacrifice is Minor.
However, just because it can be done doesn’t mean it was. There is NO benefit to a sacrifice. How has this changed the game? We trust Vigi more. That’s it. There are 3 (now 2 lol) Vampires, and I really don’t think all 3 were that stupid.
