You got about 5 years of spare time? You could sit down and read it all in that time span. The whole manga is running up on 700 chapters, but wont actually hit 700 because Kishimoto is a piece of shit who doesnt like whole numbers apparently.
Personally I have a very loose grasp of the source material anyway. I seen the first few episodes, I watched/read most of Shippuden. I probably missed like a good 40% of the series just because I didnt really give a fuck when I was younger.
