Ben Perkins:
-First game he played (Zombie game) he got Medic. Dramatix was inactive for most of the first day and his first post was something like “Sorry guys, I’ve been getting the messages but I haven’t been able to post”. Obviously mafia. BP for whatever reason defended him. Dramatix got lynched day 1 and turned up mafia. The next day everyone wanted to lynch Ben because it looked like he was running really crappy damage control. Ben basically let the town lynch him, he didn’t even defend himself.
-Second game he played (most recent marvel game) he got Magneto, the Mafia traitor. If Magneto dies by any method except lynch his Last Gasp would include the names of every Mafia, probably winning the game for the civs. First thing he did in the Mafia PM was say “Hey guys I’m Magneto who’s everyone else?” He got DQd for not voting twice in a row, so the list wasn’t released. As you know, Mafia won that game by the skin of their teeth so the list would’ve definitely won the game for the civs
yeah, in the first MVC game, civs took full advantage of Phoenix’s ability (and Akuma’s assist lol) for the eventual victory. Magneto in the second game seems to be even more powerful (i.e. broken) than Phoenix. It was played extremely poorly but ultimately, I am kind of glad that Ben took the role so it was not an easy mode for civs.
well, balancing a game w/ new mechanics is very hard, actually. In my first 2-UC game, Cowlord happened to suggest that the UC/dUC to investigate themselves, which was promptly cockblocked by my reply that such investigation will result in inconclusive lol.
like seriously, who would have thought to investigate themselves if they were detectives? I wouldn’t have thought of that if it wasn’t for the “beta testers” lol.
^ obviously, to make it effective, a jester’s win should also create penalty for the civs. I don’t see why civs need to worry about having jester to win by killing him if civs’ winning condition is not affected by jester’s win.
also, the problems, imo, in balancing the roles with another, is that you need players who know what they are doing. Playing a game with 30 roles that are meant to counteract one another requires all players to play the roles in their optimum ability. In a forum setting where we often have novice players, it would be extremely hard to archive it.
Actually, while I was researching roles for my mafia game, I found something that suggested that when the Jester dies, the mafia should get 2 kills next time around.
