Yeah, there’s no PCIX 3.0 mobo that can do dual 16x, sadly. Even more sad is that no ATI boards currently on the market that support PCIE 3.0, even though Bulldozer supports it. But, the extra channels actually makes 16x/8x actually viable, and it’s barely noticeable from dual 16x.
Still, I won’t buy 16/8. I want 16/16. My next build is gonna be a 990 chipset with some processor DDR3 2100 with CAS latency 8 and dual 6870’s minimum and there’s no point in making some of that power go to waste. :tup:
The thing people don’t seem to understand about tiers is the power of intertia. Tiers do change over time, but tendencies and assumptions in the early life of a game influence those in the game’s later life. Good players pick the characters that seem strongest when the game is new, and especially the characters that are easies to use, because it’s easier to be effective with those characters. This leads to a greater depth of understanding for those characters that usually doesn’t exist for less popular characters. The problem is amplified in games with more characters and options available. The stronger players gravitate toward what are perceived to be the strongest characters, which makes the weaker players feel like they should play those characters as well, so the other characters end up being insufficiently explored.

also i’m water cooling everything this time, not just the CPU.
Is there even a point to water cooling unless you start overclocking shit? Seems like stock operating settings are meant to operate fine under normal thermal control options. Or is this less of a plot for an overclocker and more an attempt to make their rig quiet?
Good water cooling is much quieter than air cooling. I just wish it was easier, especially on non-CPU components. CPU water cooling is actually really easy these days. You can buy easy kits for the price of high-end air coolers.

lol took the words right out of my mouth; and nowadays if you’re just cooling the CPU, they make all-in-ones. just attach it like a normal heatsink and go. motherfuckers are so spoiled now compared to when i first did it back in 03
definitely quite overclocker. i’ll most likely be getting a Mo-Ra 3. allegedly you can max overclock a completely stacked system (dual cpus, quad gfx cards, all mobo components) while having the fans spin at 600rpm and the temps will still be ambient. the trade off is it’s big as hell and no cases can mount it. no retail cases, that is :badboy:
that’s crazy, for me air cooling is sufficient enough for me as I always feel like until I know more I shouldn’t mess with it. Course It did take a few hardware fuckups over time to know how to put things together. Now I ask myself why I was scared in the first place. I know I’d never need a water cooled PC but I’d love to build one for the hell of it given the chance.
