Doesn’t touch on the same topics though. Long story short, I had to write a syllabus for my African American Studies class and as part of the syllabus I wrote, I wanted to add movies that touched on the themes of the books I assigned. Boyz in the Hood is the movie I have for Gang Leader for a Day. The others are Bamboozled to go with Spoken Soul (Book on African American English) and Blazing Saddles to go with ****** by Randall Kennedy.
Unless somebody has a documentary on gang life in Chicago, or a movie representative of it, Boyz in the Hood is gonna be the one that gets shown.
Sorry, I think House Party beats both of them out for that distinction.
