The Simple Lifestyle and Tactics of a Cheapskate (ah, sounds like it might work as a book title, perhaps)— cutting your own hair. I can’t help but feel a certain measure of satisfaction with how much money has been saved over so many years of being my own barber. One investment of about 20 dollars and change…back in the 90s. Well, the current ones I have now are a replacement, but that was just another 20 bucks and change on this one wonderful device… and it’s lasted for quite a few years now (close to 10 years, I think). I’m not even sure what the usual price is like at a barbershop lately, since the last time I went to one was when I was a little kid.
*also, I have no interest in sneakers that cost upwards of $150 to whatever the outrageous price currently is for shoes that are associated with certain famous athletes. I heard of some “Lebrons” costing $315 for the high-end version recently…sheeeit, that’s a new video game system, man. Fuck THAT. If I had a son asking me for those shoes…even for Christmas or some other special occasion… really, I’d laugh in his face.
Well i understand Furry’s complaint about the camera in RE6. It’s way down by your characters waist and it’s really close giving you a HUGE blind spot to the left or right of the screen. I think anyone except maybe Yea Yea Bitch can understand why this would bother someone.
As for DmC, it just doesn’t look like DMC. Those characters have a little in common with them and share names but that’s about it. The framerate is confirmed to be locked at 60fps which is half the frame rate any DMC has ever had. Even DMC2 ran at 60fps. So that’s a major step back. For the longest time it looked like there where only going to be 3 melee weapons in the game. They finally showed us a fourth one.The weapon switching system is ripped right out of Heavenly Swords stance system (The buttons even correspond between light and fast and heavy and slow just like Heavenly Sword). Limbo as a concept shares a lot of similarities with Bayonetta. You’re pulled into a parallel dimension where people are seen as ghosts and they can’t see you but they can see the damage you cause which is right out of Bayonetta.
Then there’s the writing, one of the main reasons NT was chose apparently was because of their writing chops, but everything we have seen comes off super typical. Dante’s a whiny douche who wants to stick it to the man and why does everyone say “Fuck you!” sooooooo much. F-Bombs everywhere in the game so far. That’s not exactly stellar writing.
DmC comes off to me as being made by guys who don’t really have many idea of their own and thus culminated a bunch of ideas from a bunch of other hits. Normally this wouldn’t bother me too much (I love the Darksiders series after all) but it’s different here. It’s seeing the leader of a genre become the definition of follower. DMC tend to be one of the series you go to see new ideas, or well worn concepts (That it created) pushed to its absolute limits. DmC doesn’t look to do any of this. It looks uninspired, and seems as if the creators have no idea what it was that fans liked about the series in the first place.
As I’ve always said tho…the warping stages are pretty bad ass.
It is a squirrel ripping a saxophone solo. Also it’s flipping you off. It’s from a webcomic.
I need to make it larger someday, now that I think about it. It didn’t come out right when I put it here and I’ve been too lazy to fix it.
Fair assessment, I haven’t played the demo so I wouldn’t know how it feels. Then again it looked similar to RE4 so it’s whatever for me.
Ok, didn’t know about the Bayonetta stuff, but Lords of Shadow did the same with God of War and others (didn’t really the like the Shadow of Colussus battles) and it has it’s own feel.
I understand the gripes with the writing, they are just trying a little too hard to be with the “current generation” people are guilty of this quite often, it’s a big mistake but one that doesn’t really bother me, they are just going for an angsty feel, which is ok in my book.
Off topic: I hate that feeling of knowing you have to do something but you can’t remember what it is. Especially when you’re 90 percent sure it’s not even real.
Outside of the whip moving kind of like the blades of chaos and and the dodge button i never get the LOS/GOW comparisons. They are really different. Those Colossus battles are ass tho.
Anyway if those things don’t bother you then more power to you man. That’s great. At the end of the day I personally don’t have a problem with people enjoying shit I don’t. Games are about having fun and if you have fun when playing it then that’s awesome. I’d probably pick up DmC for around the 20 or 30 dollar mark myself unless I’m hearing from voice I trust that it’s that dope shit.
As for RE6 i haven’t played the Demo but the concerns I’ve heard sound valid (especially Furry’s) and some of the vids I saw showed a lot of screen tearing which imo just shouldn’t be an issue with something as high profile as RE6. They have so many people working on that game, rushing to push it out fast, that I worry about the polish on it. That screen tearing shit is annoying as fuck and something most devs got over years ago. Makes me worry about the rest of the polish on the product.
Also the removal of gun customization, WTF? That’s a series staple quite honestly, why is it completely gone? It was bad enough when the briefcase was removed in RE5 but now that and the customization is gone? Game sounds made to appeal to the lowest common denominator, doesn’t fill me faith.
