Was that Screaming Swordfucker 7? I love that comic
The have had those for a while, actually, though they might have just been out of stock. I think they had a 7 string mustang copy, too, which is just…
I don’t see what one has to do with the other. I never heard of MIT having a Credit Building 101 class or anything. What does being a scientist have to do with money management?
My mistake, unless you’re at a DOA tourney right now. Lmao.
How you gonna basically steal Joe Mad’s style and then steal his signature too? I kind of can’t tell what is going on in that picture.
I love stylistic art, but I really think everyone needs to just sit down and read Jack Kirby FF for like a month before they decide to be an artist. He isn’t the best artist ever but I mean just to be like “Look, you have to be able to convey what the fuck is happening, this old jewish dude used to draw like 12 books a month and still had his shit together”
It really made me sad that Quietly stopped doing Batman and Robin. The art was making me giddy. It was starting to become an amazing fusion of western quality with some indie and eastern touches.
In other news my dog is laying right beside me and really dreaming up a storm. I wonder what is chasing her? Is it a giant vacuum cleaner? Maybe it’s the dog freddy kreuger?
So both, then?
credit building is so very basic, i expect a graduate of mit to know some simple life building stuff like that.
btw does jack kirby have any basic books on storytelling without having to take his school (r.i.p)
The sword blade is fine - it could be angled on purpose.
The crossguard is all shades of fucked up, though.
And the angle of the right arm and hand (character’s right)… what the fuck?
On the positive side, I like the flow of the lines… they are quite energetic, and speak of the movement they are supposed to, specifically in the last panel.

Just read his entire Fantastic Four run like 5 times. You should learn some stuff simply through osmosis alone. There are a bunch of good Will Eisner books too. He was doing a lot of great stuff way before everyone else. Too bad his stories have some lol racism in them though.
Oh, racism, schmacism. It’s no worse than what you’d see in the golden age of cartoons.
yes mother.
No doubt, but it’s pretty funny racism. Like AH SO ME SO CHINESE. Or his little bushbaby companion guy. It’s not like I’m offended or something, but it’s kinda funny how people hold him up as a golden god of art and never are like “lol racism”.
Same with Jack Kirby and how he gives everyone the same face. The King is the King for a reason, but when you are drawing 10 books a month and laying out 10 other ones you ain’t got no time to draw faces.
I really like how the Fatale artist really draws a ton of different faces.
own that book. love it.
When the fuck was this, and what the fuck is wrong with Kooper, letting that shit fly?
Owned it.
Wore the cover off of it.
I feel bad for artists that aren’t discernable from their influences. I love MAD but I wouldn’t want to draw EXACTLY like him every angle, every panel, every face.
Also, HTDCTMW is a must-read. In fact, anything Big John Buscema ever drew should be required reading for any aspiring comic artist
Fun fact: lots of people of varying education levels don’t know different things. Knowledge is infinite and time isn’t. Shit happens.
Also, no matter how much you dislike a given comic artist, or be disappointed in another artist’s work, just be happy he’s not Michiyamenotehi Funana.
whats weird to me really is the fact joe mad hasnt been relavent for like a decade. like is their a whole generation of artists still cracking open that battle chasers and ripping him off? its weird, a big reason i stopped opening comics is cause i was getting too influenced subconciously by the artists i read. i wanted to develop my own unique style without being too strongly influenced by others. i learn a technique here or there from an artists but overall my style i want to be my own. oddly enough the guy who taught me to close the comics is the head of the animation studio that did skullgirls. dude taught me alot growing up. basically my older brother for art.
How is closing yourself off from other artists a smart move? Is that the reason there aren’t any male characters in Skullgirls? Maybe instead of closing the comics that guy should have turned off the damn video games instead of basing almost every animation in that game on a reference.
OMG SKULLGIRLS ART DUDE SLAYED.
Read as many different good comics as you can and steal every good idea everyone else has. Developing a style should be your last priority. A very strong foundation in the basics should be first and your own special style can come later.
Joe Mad is a weeboo.
Did I just use that word lol.
GF would love you if you have a Moxxi’s Good Touch.
I never claimed to be perfect!!!
Why you always criticizin?!?!?! >:(
