Probably gonna have to submit and start at a Call Center while I get some stuff together.

Watched a couple of SC2 matches. Wow is that stuff bomb as hell. How much would I have to spend for a computer that would run Diablo 3, SC2 and LoL? Not on max settings but run them smoothly.
Oh right, Superman. Yeah, whatever.
Superman For All Seasons is one of the only Jeph Loeb books that I really love. The more I think about The Long Halloween the less I like it, but I think the main draw for both of those is Tim Sale - it’s hard to dislike anything he’s part of.
Red Son is another one, also happens to be one of the only Mark Millar books that I really like. I think somehow his usual bullshit nonsense is subdued enough here and fitting enough for this story that it doesn’t seem totally retarded, and in fact, actually works pretty well.
All-Star Superman obviously is the must have, I’m kind of ashamed I forgot to suggest that, but I’m really more ashamed that Goody missed it. Although I don’t know how easy it is just to jump into this book - sometimes I feel this book is better appreciated one you’ve had a chance to slog through a whole history of other Superman stories first. Just so that you appreciate this one even more in comparison.
Secret Identity was also crazy good, and I actually liked Birthright a lot too. Lex Luthor: Man of Steel was a pretty neat Superman book as well, a book told from Luthor’s perspective.
The beginning of the Morrison/Porter JLA relaunch run was also really great, like when they fight the Hyperclan and stuff. I think this is about the time I really got back into comics again, I liked that global scale, “widescreen,” badass take on superheroes that this book did a good job in doing. The Authority kind of took after that in the first few volumes with Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch which were really really great (and then Mark Millar came and ruined everything like he always does), and it’s the same stories that The Ultimates ripped off when that launched too.
In the same way how Dark Knight Returns came out and spawned all these poorly executed super dark and gritty renditions of Batman that eventually kind of ruined the actual mainstream Batman comics…I think Morrison’s Batman and Superman in JLA spawned all sorts of poorly executed Bat-God and crazy powerful Superman rip-offs that ruined future books as well.
I read some of All-Star Superman and it was the only time I’ve ever liked Supes. He never really to me all that approachable until that book.

I’m beginning to feel that I have a “schtick” around here. I would be more than happy to offer Superman recommendations (and have, as I recall, in the Superman thread), but I don’t want to be some one-note Superman guy.

I have no way of knowing, but I’m guessing that All-Star Superman can be a bit of a head trip for people who aren’t ready for it.
Funny, considering that it’s essentially a compilation of all the different versions of Superman through history–nothing truly new in the book. Except that the book does ignore some of the more recent editions of the character, which is probably wise.
I haven’t read many superman books and I haven’t had the desire either. One of these days I’ll nab a torrent of them to see how I feel (yes, I am one of those people that actually buys the stuff they torrent).
Fishjie posted about it. My main beef with apple is that I know Jobs didn’t come up with half the shit that gets put in the product but gets all of the credit. I wanna know all the people behind the scenes. Those engineers and idea men/women are the ones that should be getting t-shirts and posters. Like the one IBM add that had one of the guys working on the team that created the USB drives, that add is beyond godlike.
damn son, your computer can’t run a 13-year old game? what is it a 486? I think I could get SC1 to run on a phone if I tried hard enough. Hell there is even the NES version:
yeah i saw his post about it, i was just kind of waiting to see if anyone was going to make a thread or more coverage SOMEWHERE beyond a few specific tech sites. but, yeah, nothing. so fucking disgusting.
Should’ve fixed that. This computer can’t run LoL. Kinda sucks since a lot of my friends are playing it and I’m the odd man out. Although they also want me to join WoW. Fuck that noise.
yeah i’ve tried to play wow like fucking 4 times due to friends getting me to play and my brother getting me to play, again. i quit that game 4 times for the same reason - it blows so many dicks.
That’s really really disappointing. It doesn’t really effect me cuz I’m buying the game new, but I still find it to be pretty damn under handed. It’s one thing to hold back the DLC costumes and even challenge maps (Like the Robin maps) but the Catwoman shit is part of the main campaign. It should be there regardless.
You could give the death penalty to people like this and I wouldn’t even be mad.
I need hobbies that get me out of the house. As dumb as it sounds, playing fighting games got me out of the house. Was I sitting down in someone’s crib? Yes, but I wasn’t doing it in mine. WoW is a time sink especially when you live with somebody. It very well could be the worse hobby to start on right now. At least with Starcraft (could always start playing Go) I can get a game or two in and do other things.
