I watched MK1 recently after having not seen it since the 1990s. It was hilarious. It’s nonstop entertainment, I’ll give it that much.

It may surprise some but I actually am a fan of fighting games… I was on this other board on a regular basis called Video Game Review, and someone there mentioned SRK, so I checked it out and got hooked from day 1. Unlike certain other boards at the time, people could talk freely with little to no censorship over here so that also appealed to me. Let’s see…2000…yeah, that was still in the heart of the MvC2 era, with Powerstone(? I think that was out at the time?) being an interesting side-dish. Fast forward to now; I haven’t played MvC3 in a few months… I’m just waiting on Ultimate, basically…but that fascination will probably be short-lived since I’m currently hooked on Gears of War 3(*they put soooo much in that…it’s a game you could literally play for a few years if you intend to get everything). The addiction there is quite strong…on top of that Saint’s Row 3 will be out soon, and I still haven’t bought Dark Souls just yet…oh AND I still have Warhammer Space Marine currently on the sidelines until the DLC for it comes out, along with quite a few other things! Two of those (Gears 3 and Saint’s Row the Third) are games I could see myself playing for several months, maybe even years at the very least. Man, as much as I look forward to UMvC3, it’s going to have a serious uphill battle to steal my attention away from all that.

Take the time out and run some cables through your floor molding. There is even molding that has a groove in it to accommodate the cable. For a more permanent solution, go through the wall and terminate with of of these. :tup:

I’m trying to buy a gaming PC that can run Rage and Crysis smoothly… (as in clearly better than the current gen consoles).

What specs should i be looking for?

Smoothly at what settings? What size is your monitor?

For decent quality at mid-settings you need:

At least 3-core processor running 2.8 - 3ghz, preferably more. Oh, and get an after-market cooler for it.
4GB RAM minimum. 8 is optimal, any more is overkill. Check CAS latency and get the lowest (fastest) you can afford.
Video card, Nvidia GT 545 DDR5 at least, or an AMD Radeon HD 5570 or better. In the HD 6000 series don’t get less than a 6670 and expect to meet your expectations. Don’t pay more for a gig of video memory. If there’s an option to buy the exact same card cheaper card with less memory, then get the cheaper one. Usually, it uses the faster memory anyway (DDR 5 vs. DDR3).
7200 RPM hard drive of whatever size you think you need. No need to go with a slow 5200 RPM drive these days.

That would run both the games you mentioned at recommended settings.
You should be able to find something like that already built, but I don’t know where. I would suggest having someone build it for you. It’s like an entry-level gaming system. :tup:

Then you need to go considerably higher than what I posted. Quad-core CPU, 8GB of fast RAM, in a good mobo that can handle it, a nice video card in the GTX 560 - 580 range or x8xx series Radeon. All that in a case that can cool it and a 600+ w pwr supply that can deliver without failing on you.

That’s rated as a desktop PC, which is probably not going to cut the highest settings.

If you really want to It’s a start, but you’d have to replace:

Video card for sure. That onboard ain’t gonna cut it. get one of the ones I mentioned, or check the Tom’s Hardware best video card for the money.
RAM. I don’t know what kind of RAM that is. Probably okay, but it could bottleneck you.
Pwr Supply. You’ll need a 550 or better to support the video card you want.
CPU is a bottleneck. Not to bad, though, but on that motherboard you’re stuck with 95w CPUs, so it limited your upgradability severely.

Probably better to get something else. Look for something that claims to be a gaming PC as we’ll see…
