SRK Lounge ver. 17. RockB is the result of Pootie Tang staying in the country with dat white girl

Thurst, what happened? I haven’t been following the thread too closely. Mostly catching up on Evo.

This is true.

Hmmm. I shall have to read some Niven. I like his aliens.

apparently his Ringworld series of books are really good. I never got around to reading them, but one day I will.

A bathroom doorknob that is jamming is not a laughing matter. This is very serious and should be treated like an emergency, with the utmost urgency for action.

The consequences for delay could be dire.

i just saw this comment in the reply for this vid…i have no words.

(I think I’ll get around to the Black! Spider-man when I’m able to process it sometime…tomorrow.)

Anyone still up?

If so, then go to bed.

Forever.

Heh. Now I can’t stop thinking of Team America: World Police just because of the way you typed that.

I’m not seeing what’s “true” about it after a certain point unless you want to state the obvious thing that quite a few characters can be made to look the same by an artist who only has “six faces”.

It’s amusing, though.

@ap
Pm my dude…some people simply cannot take a joke.

@thurst sorry to hear that…my mom use to be a cop and I learned they can be shady and border line psychopathic…

Sheeeeit,

From the numbers I’ve seen at least here in Tennessee, the average starting salary for a teacher is definitely not “shitty”, especially considering the fact that they aren’t even at work for a full 12 months out of the year…not just due to summer and winter breaks, but also whenever it school is out due to a little bit of snow and ice on the roads. (*That’s basically the deal here… whenever it snows for a few minutes and starts accumulating, schools will most likely be closed that next day.) Then there’s the fact that they can get that salary fresh out of an undergrad/4-year degree. However, I could see how starting off at around 34 or 35k a year (at least in this state, which does NOT have a stupidly high cost of living like NY or other various northern states) might be a “problem” though if you fucked up and already have a couple children/demonspawn to take care of.

The thing that sucks though is the concept of the job— you’re having to deal with other people’s SHITTY children all day, Monday thru Friday…and the generations of kids only get worse in every possible way as time goes on. I’m sure the next generation of kids coming up will be even more disrespectful, lazy, ignorant, undisciplined, unfocused, and/or flat out stupid than the previous one. Check out any random public school…it’s like you can actually see a backwards evolutionary process going on.

Edit—haha, I was just thinking about how much fun it would’ve been to START at 34k per year back in '05 with my first apartment…it would’ve been sooo nice. I had exactly TWO bills to pay at the time! All utilities were covered with the rent (775, and that’s really just due to the good location of that place; the interior was kind of terrible), and I was still paying my student financial aid debt which was around 230 or so per month if I recall. I didn’t even have a phone bill back then since I used a cheap “pay as you go” phone! Ohhhh those were the days, man. Just 2 bills to pay…imagine pulling in 34k gross per year with those being the ONLY financial obligations to worry about…or better yet… my later apartment was cheaper at 625 per month sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0hjSaYCRnA&feature=related
…not that that’s “BALLINNNN!” of course, but I definitely would’ve had a bit more fun compared to what I was really making at that time. Then again, it is a trade-off since the very notion of taking care of other people’s horrible children all day is like a new level of torture. I would be too tempted at some point to just beat the shit out of one of them.

35k in dollars is shitty, that’s a little over what a grad expects to be paid first couple of years

Not to mention the additional cerifications they have to pay for and additional testing.

Eh? Major in Education or an education-aspect of the major (e.g.-- regular “Studio Art” vs. “Art Education” as a major) and I remember you get that certification along with your 4-year degree. I’ve seen and known people who are set up to become a full-time teacher shortly after graduating, with no Masters level or “extra” certification necessary (at least a Masters-level degree is usually needed if you want to teach on college level though)…extra stuff would of course bump your pay up a bit more. This isn’t like becoming a doctor or anything, where one has to spend 500 years in school before even starting on their career.

In PA certification in required for you to keep your job. A masters will bump up your pay. SOME programs roll your certification into your degree but not many. Google Phildelphia School District and see how “easy” being a teacher is.

man keep your perry black to yourself

We got Marvel win this year so I’ll concede that.

i don’t see why anyone would care, his whiteness is pretty irrelevant to the character or the story

I remember when they were saying Will Smith might play Capt America.

That would have been a blunder. Considering Cap being white is integral to the whole Super Soldier storyline.
Cause if he was black, it would have made the whole Isaiah Bradley story pointless.

(Ha. I can’t stop staring at the Jim Gaga thing.)

I have to concur that being a teacher isn’t as easy or financially rewarding as people seem to think for some reason.

What are you talking about? Will Smith is a white guy last I checked.

you should factor in that million lives in memphis wher 35k is probably a decent chunk of change. but yeah, if you went to college and graduated, 35k/year in jersey (nortth, at least) wouldn’t be anything worth talking about.

so mibbit no longer works for some reason… anyone else have a good online web irc site?
