64gig wifi or 16gig+verizon 3G ipad2?

well doesn’t it depend on how often you’re around wifi? i don’t recall wifi coverage in nyc being that great, so i’d go with the 3G.

Do you prefer storage space or internet away from home/hotspots? ipads aren’t very portable and you might want more memory for music, movies, games, etc. On the other hand 3G is useful if you travel and/or are frequently away from a router.

I’d go with the 64gig wifi, but I don’t own or intend to buy a tablet. I’m assuming that you also have a phone with 3G or 4G, so I doubt you really need a 3G tablet aswell.

Edit: Why not just save for a 64gig wifi + 3G?

depending on what kind of phone you have and if your near plug…imma guess you got a new gen phone…you could just tether the ipad.

I got my first grey when I was 14.

i’m calling bullshit on ipads (or tablets) in general not being very portable considering i’m guaranteed to see 5-6 people actively using them in just about every subway car i get into.

Not everyone has access to or uses subways. I honestly don’t see the practicality of bringing a tablet along for daily activities. It’s not like you can put a tablet in a pocket or holster either. If you’re going to carry a briefcase/satchel/backpack around, you may as well just use a notebook.

Tablets are instant-on, simple computing tasks can be done on cellphones (and by extension, tablets) these days thanks to Moore’s Law, they have the relative form factor of a legal pad. Other than professional tasks that require intensive processing power, and prohibitive cost of tablets, there aren’t many reasons to carry a laptop or notebook outdoors. Especially when there are tablets available with a chipset you’d normally find in a laptop.

Forgetting Gwynneth Paltrow and Apple.

if you’re not using the subway or public transportation then you’re…driving? in which case “portability” is somewhat of a moot issue. as taito said, there aren’t many reasonable tasks that you can do on a notebook, but not a tablet…i’d really extend it further to smartphones since my phone is about as fast and has more RAM than most netbooks.

So what would you be doing that you couldn’t do on a smartphone?
