I’m watching Mike Ross play Filipino Champ on stream right now, and it feels like everyone is leveling up to take on Japan. Especially with all the wild endorsements being thrown around.
Team Mad Catz is the Cobra Kai of the Fighting Game world, and Mike Ross is Ralph Macchio.
They did do a lot of stuff to up the quality. They had live actors do the scenes and rotoscoped the animation onto that, which couldn’t have been cheap. They also worked from model sheets drawn by Joe Shuster himself, which probably wasn’t too expensive, but it’s still a high level of care.
