About 3 weeks ago I tried syzzurp for the first and last time, keep in mind my experience with drugs extends to trying weed once like 7 years ago so I’m sure I have an extremely low tolerance. So after a few gulps I felt tipsy as in could barely stand up straight, environment was tilted for over 6 hours. I’ve been having a really bad cold since new years and maybe it’s because I haven’t been sick in years and haven’t needed any medicine in that time but the 2 nyquil pills I had a few days ago made me feel almost as tipsy and fucked up as the syzzurp. I know the nyquil has some of the same chemical as the syzzurp but I didn’t expect to trip the fuck out like that:rofl:

So, she made this video about how slutty girls should stop being sluts. It’s not the most PC thing to say these days, but I thought it was pretty good, and I certainly see her POV.

Predictably, she caught a ton of shit on feminist/psuedo-feminist sites and blogs, and has been accused of “slut shaming” and blaming of victims. I bring this up, because I’m scrolling through one of the comment sections on these sites, and reading how dumb some of the highly judgmental criticisms are. It’s not just ironic because of that, but because there is some straight-up catty bitch shit being said. I’m not even sure these people watched the video they’re complaining about- even worse if they did, because they’re accusing her of things she didn’t say, defending rapists etc. That kind of ignorant holier-than-thou outrage is epidemic across the Internet.
Reading these comments makes me angry, I don’t know why I’m doing it- maybe that’s the reason.
But I was thinking, it’s funny the turn the feminist movement has taken- it used to be that people were upset at women being portrayed as sex objects for male amusement, or even being held to some imaginary standard of beauty or attractiveness. Now the big buzz phrase is “slut-shaming”; how dare you try to tell women not to be sluts, or make fun of them for it, you are clearly a hateful misogynist. Even Tina Fey gets accused of it because she doesn’t play a promiscuous character on her show, or because the show makes jokes about the trampy blonde character played by Jane Krakowski.
On the plus side, in reading one of these articles I’ve seen a correct usage of the term “contributing to rape culture” for the first time, ever. The accusation was misdirected, but the act being accused of would have literally been excusatory of rape.

I want to go backpacking, a pilgrimage to immerse myself in rape culture. I just want to be around it. But does that mean I will go and rape a lot or go and get raped a lot? Should probably figure that out before I do it.
Hardcore feminism has taken a fun turn the last few years. You’re right, I think initially the stance was for equality and women’s rights, correcting a society that had no such values to start. So a lot of it made sense, because they were treated objectively, almost subhuman without rights in the eyes of society.
So you have rights groups fighting tooth claw and nail for attention and a piece of the pie…and you had society in general compromising and coming down to meet them in the middle.
But we’ve passed that point now, and some crazy groups are still continuing to fight and society continues to bend over backward for them…only we’ve long passed the midway point. Which is where the crazy’s coming from now.
Christians complaining that Google had the gall to put “Happy Holidays” up on December 25th instead of “Merry Christmas” like HOW DARE THEY NOT ACKNOWLEDGE JESUS, OUR RELIGIOUS FREEDOMS ALLOW US TO SHIT ON THE RELIGIOUS FREEDOMS OF EVERYONE ELSE
Or a black rights group complaining that the Minnesota Timberwolves were racist because the team wasn’t predominantly black.
And now feminists that think being a slut is an empowering concept that is to be celebrated.
Society’s caught up, but people are still pushing…because they can. No one will call them on it because it doesn’t look good from a distance if you’re opposing a human rights group, regardless of the reason. And there’s like a squeaky wheel getting the oil thing, where the more noise you make and the more ambitious your message, the further it’ll go.
The downside is that the rest of us will also have to listen to it. Such is life.
I’m still offended that women can vote. I feel like that was one compromise too far really.
