I don’t think they even call the president by name to avoid having to deal with that shit, which I think is for the best. Some of the pacing I had with the books was lost but that’s what always happens when the individual reader subconsciously chooses how long a panel takes to absorb vs the pacing you need to keep on a motion picture. The Batman vs the armed Mutants at the Gotham dump was like a 15 minute affair in my head, but in the film it was like a minute/minute 40 seconds. Still worked great though. “Carrie Kelly. Robin.” was so fucking good to hear. Almost shed a tear. I think Bruce’s inner monologue that spoke to Dick should have been in the film(I think it only comes up once and even then he says it out loud in response to Kelly). But it’s just a small blemish for me.
