This is where things get a bit sticky because the online community (OC) and the community when playing (CWP: people who show up to majors and locals) are completely different. I’ve been to a lot of the different websites (dustloop, melty bread, tekken zaibatsu) but only participate in the forums for capcom games even though I am hella down to play both Blazblue and T6. On the other hand you also have a lot of people who are kinda tourists when it comes to other games: they’ll visit and view but the won’t participate in it.
The good thing about your case though is that the games that don’t have big enough communities to warrant their own forums can try and get people together under the different places and find additional players. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that said OC likes the games for which there are sub-sections or even knows that there are sections for it. In those subsections my initial asserction remains true. Take for example ShinjiGohan. That is part of SRK and maybe other others of the OC. But when it comes to CWP, he would probably much rather spend time on EX2 or EX3 (by the way, you are totally righto n the EX games).
You also have people that have accounts to contribute to just one part of the OC and not much else. This people can be different when it comes to the CWP and play different games but meh. OC and CWP are different beasts altogether. There are plenty of people who have been part of CWP that are not part of the OC. Those people get butthurt when they get called out on their join dates. Those people need to swallow the big one and accept that as far as the OC is concerned, they are brand spanking new to this. If most of the SRK staff had any understand of culture at all, the transition from the people who were here before SF4 and the new people probably would’ve been a lot smoother.

I started out with the GG layout, but then got it strongly suggested to me that I learn the official layout, because “it really was the best way, ergo its being laid out in that way.”
I might give it another whirl with the GG layout.
Because I can almost wrap my head around it being that type of game, minus a button, but with two taunts, except when I’m playing someone like Ryu, Akuma, Morrigan, etc.
People from games with, y’know, PROPER layouts.
Idgaf if a game has a “special button” or whatnot - I can work around that.
But I definitely want to see short come out when I hit what is theoretically w.K.
