SRK Lounge: Ronin was here

And how do you feel about people speaking out on LGBT hate? We should just ignore it? Grow thicker skin? Then complain when it takes forever for our culture to adapt?

Pick a side Raz0r. Don’t be all like “GROW THICKER SKIN, PEOPLE ARE GOING TO HATE YOU!” then be all like “LIBERALS TAKE FOREVER TO GET THINGS DONE!”

I’m pretty clear on this issue, my devil’s advocate role aside. LGBT should have their rights respected, laws to serve and protect them, and be included in the patchwork of our society.

However, not everyone is going to feel that way. That’s fine. You could reach out and try to change their minds but we all know that won’t work. Since SRK is made mostly by minority people, most of us have experienced some kind of racial bigotry in our lives. We could scream or shame these people until we’re blue in the face but it just won’t work. You can’t force a zebra to change its stripes. So you just have to accept it and move on.

But more to the point of the post you quoted previously, you’re not going to make the world accept you. It just isn’t going to happen. Their are stuck to their beliefs and won’t easily change, if they change at all. You just have to learn to live with that. Yeah I realize that means some people will kill those they don’t like or censor media they don’t agree with and even treat people like third-class citizens, but short of war you aren’t going to change that. Shit, even with war you’re gonna be hard pressed to make that change.

Indeed

What I liked about Super Metroid, was just the sheer amount of gear they gave you in that game, and how it allowed you to retrace your footsteps, and find cool shit from earlier on. Even stuff like taking freeze missiles back to earlier levels, freezing some random flying enemy, then using it as a ledge to get to a secret area. And you have to have the secrets mean shit. In Super Metroid, when you found a hidden room, you got HYPE, because it was either a secret ability, a REALLY good powerup, or a new weapon. Even the cool shit like the secret abilities that were hidden in the game (or in the background ;)) made my dick hard.

Then you had really kickass boss fights versus huge mother fuckers that looked crazy. I think the only boss fights I’ve enjoyed that much since then, were the boss fights in Castle Crashers.

All of the games named so far in this little platforming convo are great games (except TG but I brought it up because I hate it). Mario, Meatboy, Metroid and Castlevania are all really great games and they are diverse among them as far as mechanics/gameplay/physics go.

If you haven’t played Ori, play Ori. It’s probably my game of the year, which doesn’t necessarily say much since I usually stick to a few games and don’t play games until a year or more after they’re out. Very structurally similar to metroid and damn good looking.

@RockBogart Superman whoring himself for cash now.

My favorite old-school platformers are:

  • Mega Man X1/X2
  • Super Metroid
  • DKC2
  • Sonic 3 & Knuckles
  • Super Mario World
  • Vectorman

Really, anything with solid level design and a protagonist that’s fun to play as is a good pick. I also love a challenge; platformers that spoon feed the player information bug me because they don’t really allow you to make mistakes and learn from your own discoveries. The best platformers also give you a lot of freedom in the routes you take to reach your destination. The old Sonic games were especially good with this; falling off of the main path didn’t send you into some bottomless pit, you just ended up on a different road where you were left wondering what the other paths had to offer, usually some goodies like extra lives maybe just a faster path. On your next play through you’d be motivated to find out what was up there.

A modern platformer that I found really enjoyable was Rogue Legacy. The difficulty is absolutely brutal but never ‘cheap’. As you make mistakes you continue to learn more about how the game’s world functions, and the upgrades you acquire help you along with your newfound knowledge.

I hope Black Panther uses the Infinity Gauntlet to cheat at Cee-Lo in the back alley of Doom’s castle.

You trash

Can’t blame you. This shit is just painful.

Never in my life I would have thought that being a Superman fan is suffering, but New 52 Superman is showing me otherwise.

Anyone seen this story about a stripper taking a trip to Florida yet?

My Favorite platformers are SMW and Sonic 2 which are also my top 2 games of all time. For more modern times, Jax and Daxter were excellent platform games.

I’ve always been a fan of the classic Castlevania formula. Where you’re the same character, gear wise, beginning to end, but have to find new and unique ways to use your tools to face new obstacles.

It depends on how you define platformers as well, Uncharted 1 is in essence a platformer as are Ratchet and Clank.

Almost no one that was not a streamer or youtube personality got access to Overwatch beta. No real shock there, Blizzard wants all the good press it can get.

What exactly is Superman doing now, to earn all of your wrath?

Being wrote like shit.

I get so sad when I think about Brutal Legend.
It had some of the best artstyle, voice acting, music, basically everything a metal fan likes in one game.

But those stupid RTS/Dynasty Warriors sections ruined it for me.

When I say platformer I’m usually just referring to the 2D variety but that’s because that’s what I play. 3D games can absolutely be platformers.

But I also want to stab people once they start being super duper pedantic and argumentative about classifications (even though I go there from time to time).

I’m going to have to check my b.net settings to make sure I opted in to Overwatch Beta

I am sure you did, if you are not there to parrot Overwatch talking points you have not got an invite yet. It makes sense from a marketing standpoint.

I never sign on to b.net though haha. That’s why I need to check, I remember getting my Heroes of the Storm key and just never playing it. So idk if I ever did.
