Sigh. I can’t say that I’m surprised, unfortunately, which is why I said to keep your guard up. Not that I’m saying it’s your fault or that you could have prevented it–could you have though?–or anything. I just expected things were looking too good to be true and, alas, that appears to be the case if you can’t actually contest this, which I wouldn’t be surprised if you can’t since the legal system is bullshit on multiple levels unless you have literally millions of dollars to throw at it to essentially bribe it.
In looking at this with forced optimism, the only thing I can say is that at least this doesn’t directly affect your kids. Shame you can’t get the jackass judge fired or anything, especially since those morons tend to run unopposed in elections.

It was in the orders originally, so I knew I had to do it. But I did not know that I would have to pay so much for it. I expected about $200/hr. that’s pretty standard charges. I am going to see if I can get this as part of my employee assistance program. If he’s on the list, I should get up to 5 sessions for free. But that retainer of $1000 is ridiculous. I’m going to have yet another negative bank balance just to get moved into my new house next month, and now this shit on top of it all. I was hoping my finances would start looking up for a change, but nerp! Two steps forward and 10 backwards.

edit ~ remembered another high school memory. Like I said, our school was HUGE. The campus looks like a mall. We have a 2000-seat auditorium and football stadium that is an actual underground bowl, like a college stadium or some shit. Texas sports programs, go figure. Anyway, that auditorium is huge, almost as big as a regular school itself. One day my friends and I found ourselves with an entire period with no teacher (band class, go figure), so we decided to go exploring up in the auditorium. There was a system of cat walks up there to control the lighting and stage features and it’s just massive. There’s storage up there and all sorts of little rooms and closets to get lost in. We spent the entire period up there running around trying not to get caught by a janitor. 
I think the next day we cut class and went to my friend’s house. I somehow had a fucking Zima and brought it and we passed it around. Yeah… Zima. I don’t even remember how I got that, bu I didn’t really like alcohol back then and my parents always had it laying around. My friends kept on skipping until they got caught and ended up having to do community service for it. They ended up exploring the cat walks again during the community service.
Yep. Fun times.

I see. That’s still bullshit though, especially if they weren’t upfront on the retainer fee. I’d like to know what they could possibly justify such a large cost and why you can’t just get a cheaper alternate if you really have to do such bullshit. Then again, it’s the court system, so of course it’s full of bullshit.

That video also reminds me of how I dodged a career-path bullet by deciding to NOT go down the “Art Education” road in terms of my major. I would’ve ended up on the news a long time ago if I were working at one of “those” schools…and it probably would’ve been a story about me either power-bombing a student or killing myself. I’m honestly surprised that we don’t get more stories about teachers eventually committing suicide, because it seems like one of THE worst jobs and work environments of the modern era…and it only continues to get worse and more depressing as time goes on. Even if you have an “Officer Bodyslam” on call at the school…I’d still rather not deal with how teenage students are today. It would only be a matter of time before I’d rather paint a wall of my house with my brain matter via shotgun before spending another minute in there trying to teach a class that is filled with so much hoodrat trash…trash that outnumbers the good students more and more with each new generation…
People are also being silly if they’re going to pretend like we haven’t seen the usual pattern of escalation before—you know damn well that a lot of the kids/teens don’t respect any level of authority…not even their own parent*. (*purposely singular because you know it’s a safe bet that the dad is probably not in the picture…but some like to pretend that isn’t the reality for some reason) Teacher tells them to calm down or stop being a disruptive force in the class, and you know that the kid most likely laughs at that and continues doing whatever they want…teacher asks again and then they laugh again because from their P.O.V. that’s a “corny ass Mr. Rogers” figure telling them what to do… shit continues to escalate from there…999 times out of 1000 that’s how this has usually played out…but we conveniently don’t have video of what lead up to Officer Bodyslam being called in this particular case.
*I see that Dr. Watkins has a video on this…ohooooo you know I must see that…let me guess, he will find a way to blame slavery again and go on like she’s a perfect little angel that did absolutely nothing to prompt an officer being called to the scene :lol:
