Read the baseball one because its of interest, and i liked it. I dont know what restrictions you have, but i think at least a solid paragraph of baseballs divided history before the last paragraph about its current diversity wouldve been nice. Just to kind of put it more into context for those unaware of the racist history of baseball, and the struggles to overcome it. Even an honorable mention of the all black, jackie robinson little league team based in chicago, that won the national championship (although later stripped due to technicalities), wouldve been nice.
Sports, music, and food are definitely the top three things that have brought americans closer than anything else. Its undeniable imo. People who say they hate sports, or cant stand certain kinds of music, or hate certain kinds of food just have no appreciation for how much those things have done to bring us together.
Its hard to keep calling a guy a spear chucker when hes winning sports games for you, and is a good person with similar morals and ideals to yourself. Its hard to find racism when listening to chuck berry, bb king, jimi hendrix, james brown, etc… Its hard to be racist against the man who makes the most finger licking good ribs in north carolina. These activities release hormones in us that force us to feel different, and they have been quintessential to americans social advancements in my opinion.
I can only post about 500 words so I am restricted in word count and can’t really dig too deep into things. Just trying to get my feet wet at the moment if that makes sense. I will keep that in mind though and may revisit this article in the future with a more narrow focus. Thanks
