I see, @Manx. The latter isn’t an option for me, however, since I broke the headphone port the Friday before last–the day after Fucksgiving–of course. That may well be what precipitated this even though the audio was working fine until I woke up to some Video_TDR_Failure error on this last Friday. The warranty I can at least check on, though I doubt it’s still any good.

Is there a way to at least ensure the audio is enabled in the BIOS?
