*A Stand is a type of Parapsychological manifestation that has unique abilities and limits to the person it belongs to. For example someones “Stand” ability may be the ability to stop time for a short duration. Another persons “Stand” ability might be the ability to make everyone around them fight each other to the death.
Some peoples (majority) of characters Stands have a humanoid form that acts as an astral representation of that power. If 2 characters have humanoid stand manifestations they can get into fist fights. The astral bodies themselves that is. *
The rest of the series is very much supernatural, and actually builds a deeper and richer mythos with much better characterization and plot. If you look beyond the obvious power creep that happened as the series progressed (it drops off again from Stone Ocean onwards) and look at the themes surrounding the stand users themselves you’ll find very rich characters and storytelling.
For example look at Super Fly from Diamond is Unbreakable. The story isn’t about Josuke escaping from the tower (well, it is) but it’s really about the stand user who tries desperately to escape the shackles that is his life separated from the rest of society. He’s a prisoner of his own will and he knows it, but doesn’t know it. It’s themes like that which makes Stands so compelling in my opinion. The “Ora Ora” is for the people who want to see cool action but there’s much more going on with stands.
And read Steel Ball Run if you haven’t already. If you like Ripple/Hamon you’ll love SBR’s “Spin” @Joshkaz *
Eddie Huang sad that they disneyfied his show instead of making it dark and daring
Like c’mon dude you think your dad beating you and your bros and your mom will make it to tv? You think they will make your dad come off as a hard thug and make your life of beating and being an outsider?
If he went for abc family maybe he would have had that show. But if fresh off the boat gets picked up for a full season, who cares.
It’s a hit. So yeah deal with the white washing as your pockets get heavy.
Someone give me a TLDR version of the Britian situation, not often we get to see other countries air their dirty laundry.
Also need to stop with the Horror before bed, got into a serial killer discussion with a friend that was interesting due to our mutual interest in criminal psychology but I’m sure it put me on a list.
Probably not. Other countries dislike these kind of scandals whereas US let them sorta fly. I doubt the British people will call them on their bullshit either.
I was told if any more people come out against the royal family they wouldn’t have any kind of legal protection. That’s messed up.
What I heard on the radio yesterday was the prince denied the allegations (that she had slept with him) made by a woman, who was sex-trafficked (there must be a better term for this, help me out), while she was testifying against a different, registered sex offender, multi-millionaire business man who is/was a friend of the prince.
Tell me why I get to work and there are 5 of my coworkers there, despite the position only requiring one or two people at a time? I’m finna bullshit this entire morning…
