That kid who got “banned” for discussing the validity of the rape on campus statistic is a fucking goon.
I don’t agree with him being silenced because college is meant to be a space where ideas, no matter how controversial, are discussed. Like I’ve said many times before, you don’t have the right to be unoffended in life. Just can’t happen. Sure, you COULD wall everything out you hate but that’s going to take a lot of work and upkeep. The guy brought up points that should have been discussed. Sorry if any of the women in the room had to suffer through the trauma of sexual assault, truly, but the guy has the right to his opinion no matter what.
Now, the guy is a piece of shit. He wanted to do it to annoy people. He didn’t do it to prove a point, he was just trying to rub in the hurt. He’s not even trying to be devil’s advocate. He’s just trying to get a reaction out of people. He picked a really stupid subject to do it with. He not only admits he likes to annoy people, but he even went so far as to post shit online and get BuzzFeed to cover him for his side of the story. Even his side is obnoxious.
I hope he dies, but I really hope a college board rules in his favor. I would hate to see what happens in classrooms when some ideas are banned from discussion.
He also wasn’t banned from class. He can do assignments, attend classes, and get credit, he’s just banned from discussions with the rest of the class.
