lol this is how you get burned on tv in australia
i wouldnt say that’s true at all. Everyone has been complaining that assists die so easily while others complain you can’t punish them. Which is it?! The fact is that assists are much easier to punish now: there are no top tier AAA’s like in mvc2, no invincible on start-up full screen projectile assists like doom in mvc2…all assists are now vulnerable when they are called and stay vulnerable while they are doing their move. basically you have to be really smart with your assist play or you die real, real quick.
100% combos are blown way out of proportion too. There is nothing so far in mvc3 as bad as sent/storm/commando bnb DHC, magneto rom infinites, or iron man guard break infinites, or are we really forgetting a certain ahvb x3 that was like a day 3 discovery? There are no real 100% combos in mvc3 and if you get hit by x-factor, you deserve it.
awww yeaaaa MVC3 in a few hours.
Bart Scott voice CAN’T wait!
Captain America/Hulk/Dante(or Wolverine) vs the WORLDDDDDD
fuck I’m tired as shit tho, just pulled an all-nighter and finished one out of my last 3 midterms. time for sleep.
im gonna miss you in 300 posts thread
i find they’re a little too hard to punish as well. I’m also on the ‘wtf i tagged out, why didn’t I tag out’ bandwagon. Maybe not with the entire cast, but some characters have little to do vs assist characters at times.
I dunno. I’ve fought some teams that can wipe out a character no problem. Saw a guy do it with Hulk, X-Factoring during a super to use ANOTHER super, and thus destroy the shit out of my world. Also some teams are built to keep combos going, with assists and hypers thrown throughout. By the time they’re done, you’re wrecked. Have Zero start some shit, launch you, tag in some buddies, they wreck you more, then Dante finishes off by keeping it going another 30 hits or so, then 3 hypers later, and you get to pick up your controller again
P Gorath NOT hating? What is this!
Also, you guys are a bunch of whiners.

Guess what, Iron Man one hit OCV on an entire team. It’s Marvel, it’s supposed to be broken. Deal with it.
Now?!
I’m lost like Axl Low because I can’t tell if it’s 2001 or 2011. Either way…
Um, supers still beat out normals, hypers still beat out normals and supers. If you apply this knowledge to the AC’s then nothing has changed for 10+ years. Now, factor in the fact your AC was vulnerable 90% of the time in MvC2 when they’re out versus 70% vulnerable in MvC3. That’s actually a significant change instead of “they are now vulnerable when they preform their assists” (which they always were) and "you gotta be smart/ not spam your assists (which people should’ve learned back in MvC2). that’s like saying when your opponent attacks you in MvC3 now you have to press back to block… I’m just saying.
IMO, you have a better chance of spamming certain assists with very, very low risks of punishment. who has the fastest assist in MvC3? Mags. It’s over quicker than it starts, so this goes back to what you just posted: if there were “invincible start-up” Mags’ “blast” or whatever would be 100% safe. In theory, it’s the absolute safest assist in the game.
Here’s the thing about AAA’s in Marvel3, why even say who’s better than whoever else in the game when all of them are safe after they reach the top of their moves while people who has a excellent hyper punisher (say a Ryu’s Shinku or Dante’s Million Dollars) you can’t punish it, nore is it worth even trying to?
The only way an AC is going to “die too fast” is when someone wants to tag out but the assist comes out instead, or you really never played a Marvel game.
The “wtf why didnt I tag out” happens because the circumstances of when you can tag out are different in this game than in mvc2. It’s not the button press, it’s that using assists and tagging in characters is more regulated now, with buffer periods around certain events that you have to wait through before you can tag. Assists are NOT hard to punish
Yeah dude have you heard of mvc2 death button? Hulk killing fools is not really new. All the scrubs online are using zero and dante, so if you losing to them I would say it’s you who have problems, not the game
If someone wants to waste their x-factor killing just one of your characters, fine, let them - that means you will have it later on for longer and more damage and can kill their whole team
shatterstar: tell me the assists in marvel 3 that do as much damage and are as hard to punish as Commando, psylocke, cyclops, ken, sent
It’s actually too soon to tell at this point.
The ones that could possibly be mentioned would be Hulk, Don-Don(mauru), maybe Dante’s, but more than likely the best is Zero’s (as for damage).
As for hard to punish, Zero, V.Joe, Ryu, Akuma (I’m just sayin’), X-23, and possibly Chun.
That’s not strictly true…
I’ve seen hella hyper combos getting snuffed by normals.
As I see it.
And we’re on this discussion again… Great.
Not like I’m surprised or anything. I am, though, surprised that boards haven’t imploded despite the game finally dropping in Europe today and having more than 2000+ people online at seemingly any given point as of late. (And I’m someone who rarely looks at the members list since I’ve pretty always had myself on “hidden” for the past decade.)
I am also surprised to find that when it comes The Walking Dead TV show, apparently fanfic writers pair up the hick and the Korean guy the most out of all the characters.
burr
Sigh. Why do I stumble across things even when I’m oh so careful about it…?
I’ve been jabbed out of both of Chris’s level 1 supers. I mean literally jabbed. One time I got so angry I breathed really hard and a huge booger flew out my nose, which quickly turned my anger into hysterical laughter.

Yeah, there have been times where normals have beaten me out of supers. Makes you wonder…
Haggar’s LARIATOOOOOOOOOOO~ assist is beastly.
Yeah it really is an amazing assist, I have half the mind to drop someone on my team for him but I have zero interest in actually playing him.
It’s not just that, the backgrounds tend to have the same color tonality as the characters themselves, making it hard to determine if a character has crossed you up, or the origin of the super startup and other minute details that can be the difference between life and a 100% combo off button presses/X-Factor.
I have to give the game props in one aspect- MVC3 has excellent presentation, the went to great lengths making each character have personality and creating a vibrant atmosphere. The problem is that devoted more time into making the game have a showy exterior, while making the overall game engine a mess.
POW! Right in the kisser!
Although a pretty broken infinite, executing an OCV like that takes skill, focus and timing. There are very few players who have J360’s consistency with Ironman, which is why there’s only 2 real Ironman team top players, the other one being Combofiend.
Very annoying indeed. It’s funny because now I literally wait while my opponent crouch blocks to combo their incoming character because it takes FOREVER.
I’ve sort of come to the realization that MVC3’s flaws lies in the fact that it’s a hodgepodge of extremes and inconsistencies. It seems the developers wanted to make every player feel like a whiz at the game, while inputting marginally deep gameplay additives for the experienced players to research. The fun of the game lies in learning the nuances and physics of each character, but at its heart feels void of any real structure or depth.
This is why the game is getting complaints. It’s not because everything is literally broken, but many aspects of the game seems inherently stupid and tacked on. Which is exactly what occurred with CFJ, but that game had the luxury of being its own brand, not a series that has garnered a significant fanbase.
Shattastar: I think they intentionally created non-level 3 supers to be interruptible in this game, so that level 3 supers have a right to be invincible. Kinda stupid, which is why I’m glad X-23’s Weapon X Prime can go through practically anything.
Is there ANYTHING you don’t whine about?
Co-sign on Super’s getting stuffed by normals =/ I have had Dormammu’s F+H hit Iron Man out of his Proton Cannon XD
thanks for clearing that up because those were just examples and not “hardcore facts”.
But in the CPU’s opinion in training mode, however…
Pot meet kettle?
Continue being free in MW2, BO, and now this!
What is the CPU’s opinion in training mode?
Is it like HNK’s CPU’s opinion about wall bounce being omitted from combo damage?
Or is it legit?
As I see it.
Or ST guile walking up to you, sonic booming then comboing into flash kcik?
