I should’ve put more effort into at least going the “Art Education” route… the change was from CS to Art Education, then I foolishly bought into the “oh those poor teachers” bullshit, and changed to being a pure Art major (followed up with the MFA degree later; and STILL foolishly avoided any paths to the teaching profession, because I still bought into the “oh the poor teachers” at the time; sidenote… 2 or 3 of my classmates/friends from then got university teaching jobs right after graduation, and they were pretty much set from that point on). If I were to ever have a child one day, I’d advise him to avoid majoring in things like that… stick to the majors that are more of a sure/good paycheck after graduation.
I also hate how majoring in art seemed to remove the joy… previously, it was something fun. It was enjoyable, relaxing, a good way to take my mind off certain stressful things, all that jazz, y’know? Ever since I was a little kid… I could sit around drawing things all day long. Typical summer vacation day in childhood-- if I wasn’t outside or playing with toys or video games, I was probably drawing so many random things; super-heroes and villains, coming up with stories for them, alien technology and vehicles, mutants, demons, the occasional nasty/perverted cartoon (oddly enough that was actually a rare thing for me to draw) the good stuff. Sheeeit, it was FUN. Majoring in it transformed the damn thing into “work”, and now I’m probably the laziest artist of all time. It almost ruined the whole thing for me.
So Kentucky got rocked by the ground they stand on…so that’s how they got KFC shake and bake seasoning.
Right now I’m just trying to level up my art game myself (with resources of course) outside of school.
If I can get good enough I’ll land a job regardless.
Art majors are pointless and a waste of time and money in general. Select a major that makes money and is universally beneficial. Especially since most art related fields are based on overall exposure or who your connections are anyway…majoring in it is a waste in most cases. As rock said unless you’re going to scad or Fs…and even then its not guaranteed.
Its better to major in something that’s actually somewhat useful and do your art on the side. That way you will never be another starving artist

That’s the reason why I stopped buying so many video games. Back when I was around 22 or so, I noticed a lot of sealed games I wasn’t playing or going to get around to so I sold those and never really bought more than two games a year. I’ve gotten worse and only play maybe 2 games for two years. Right now that’s Gears 3 and Marvel. +R may change that.
