Having played the absolutely amazing Walking Dead video games, I decided to give the show a try. This has been my first time watching a live action TV series in a little over a decade.
All I have to say is, did TV step it’s game up over the years or is it just this show that is so good?
This show is pretty fucked up, but that’s what makes it so good. Seeing a handful of people coping and trying to deal with all the insanely fucked up shit that keeps happening to them has never been so enjoyable.
Big spoilers
Spoiler
I just finished the episode where they finally found Sophia. Beyond fucked up :o
I have to say that all the blame is on Mike Z, he changed the IPS from the tests to the current version that allows reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally long combos, the “new” changes on the IPS are meant to revert it to its original form.
I don’t know what other think, but i feel that the game would have more people playing it if he didn’t decided to experiment with those changes prior to the release, those changes, at least for me stopped all the momentum that the game could gain from the initial player base
So if I can turn snarky asshole mode off for a second, I need to get something off my chest (and yes, this is the same shit I posted on FB/Twitter):
It didn’t matter who won – we all lost anyway. Why? Because we’ve learned to hate anyone who disagrees with us. Obama supporters would have been furious if Romney won, and Romney supporters ARE furious that Obama won, including some remarks from one of the most loving women I’ve ever met… that frankly broke my heart.
So, let me be real for a second: unless you’re a soldier, it doesn’t matter who the president is. If you’re reading this, you probably live in America, meaning you have more control over your own life than whatever person sits in the White House chair. Your life is no different tomorrow morning than it was this morning. You control your life. You. Wake up, be happy, and be cool to everyone around you. Stop spreading venom and hatred around for people who don’t think like you do. You know who else does that? Insane people who throw acid on their daughters for looking at a boy. Don’t be like those people. Control yourself and encourage love and tolerance. Just go out and freaking hug someone.
Yes, preaching love and tolerance and understanding is great. I wish more people would follow this message.
But it really isn’t that simple, and that equivalency, while…unfair, has a point. People want to hate. People NEED to hate. They don’t want to educate their opinion and have a well informed discussion… they need to quell people. They go into a discussion with the mindset of “This is right” rather than the question of “who’s right”.
They don’t want to understand - they want to win. They want to fight, and they want to win.
That election thread is a lot of people sounding off on misunderstandings (hypocrisy noted) and fighting instead of trying to discuss them and understand.
Has our culture really, truly lost the ability to respectfully disagree to such a degree that it’s a better effort to not try at all?
Duckie, I’m happy that Obama won because the whole Romney campaign was scumbag. If Romney HAD won this ‘post-truth’ bullshit would have worked. The loudest of the republican party now is batshit insanite (legitimate rape can’t get a chick pregnant?!, the fucking DISGUSTING behavior of republican congress), and that the candidate was running on straight-up lies instead of half truths. What I hated this election cycle was the grimyness… and the media.
DRD explained why I haven’t so much as let out a fart that sounds like I’m commenting on the election. Folks at work have to find somebody else to bounce their canned Limbaugh arguments off of.
Almost everything in life has opposing viewpoints. The problem is that people, for whatever reason, keep deciding that the endpoints are the 10’s, and that there are a handful of moderate 5’s around, but for the most part, everybody’s a 10. This goes for politics, for ethnic and cultural contrast, for differences between the sexes. And in all of those cases, the true positions are closer to the 5’s, with some extremists near the 10’s, and some extreme moderates near the 0. People are a lot more alike those same people seem to want to believe.
I guarantee you if you stood out in a public crowd with a sign that said “free hugs” you’ll brighten up someone’s day… hell, might even get you laid. Everyone wins.
Sure, go ahead.
I feel like it has, mostly because we’re listening to the wrong people. We need to focus on less bias and more objectivity. We need to stop buying into the lie that people who think differently are wrong somehow. I really think we just need to be more understanding. We’re so overcautious about being offended these days that we’re forgetting that other people are just as hurt and scared as we are about things going wrong. Everyone wants things to be right and good, and that’s the middle ground we need to be at. We need to compromise more. Expecting things to go our way or nothing is tearing us apart.
See above. The media wants money. Drama makes money, so the media creates drama by taking things out of context. The problem is that they do it so well that they demonize the other side, and we just got back and forth and “nya nya nya” all day, and then shit like this happens:

We all oughtta be goddamned ashamed of ourselves that we let it get that far. When the political process is so filled with vitriol that it makes a little girl cry, the same person whose future we’re trying to make brighter… then we really need to fix something.
Seriously, it’s disgusting. Let’s meet at the middle and help her out instead of standing at opposite sides or the room, flinging the same pieces of poo back and forth and covering that little girl in our crap while we blame each other for who originally threw it . At this point, we all did. Who started it doesn’t matter. We all need to clean it up.
