Maybe they made Sagat so relatively devoid of Asian features because the whitest guy besides Guile–until Rufus, at least–is actually three-fourths Asian. Shrug.

Oh, it’s not even his height that’s “non-Asian”. See: Yao Ming. Any “race” can have really tall (or short) people.
It’s more that his face doesn’t look remotely Asian. I suppose it doesn’t help that he’s bald and it constantly looks like he’s pupil-less in the one eye he still has. I’m not saying he has to have Fu Manchu facial hair and “slanted” eyes or anything, but he doesn’t really have anything at all to begin with.
I guess it would be more accurate to say that Sagat just “defaults” to white since, outside of telling us he’s from Thailand, he doesn’t really have any really prominent racial features and “white” is the default race for most people nowadays, even to a lot of Asians due to globalization. I’m personally fine with him not being racially marked, especially since “race” is bullshit anyway, but it just always struck me as odd and still does.

So as to not give this subject even more attention, I’ll just say something I was going to talk about when I mentioned The Dark Knight Returns last night: Maus.
I’ve had it for years, but like way too many things, I didn’t get around to reading it. That changed about a week ago. I have to say that I extremely enjoyed it, to the point where I might pick up Metamaus just to learn more about how it was created.
Hell, as it is now, I started reading that book on Auschwitz–entitled just Auschwitz: A New History–yesterday that I bought a couple of weeks ago on a whim because of it. It’s extremely odd to learn that even Himmler initially had something of conscience and to have a begrudging respect for Goebbels’ method of propagandizing.
