Honestly, this isn’t rocket science. XFC was broken from the first time it was announced, and seeing it in action along with the fact that it lasts a whopping 30 seconds (that’s 2.5 years in versus game time) it will eventually to polarize those who can use it the most efficiently and make the weaker characters even more weak.
Added to the fact that doing BnB combos are deadly in themselves with no need to actually practice, this game looks to degenerate into a “who can do the smartest setup into in insta-death combo.”
MVC2 may have been roughly the same concept but players have to be far more artful in the endeavor. No character short of glitched Juggs and a Cable with 3 meters can kill with just one infinite or setup in standard play. Also, the learning curve and skill required to achieve those kills gave legitimacy to their existence.
All Capcom needs to do is:
-Reduce XFC damage or take away the reset ability.
-Not make basic characters like Ryu sucky and immobile.
Those initial 2 points will make the tier spread at least somewhat balanced, although VS games =/= true balance by default.
A roll would fix all the OTG silliness right? Everyone not being able to move around in a game based on mobility is very very stupid. Chun Li has an 8 way dash right? That is why she is beast so far right?
I am so bad at video games.
I meant the white lady from RED. Mirram Mirren, whatever her name is.
Decent enough points I suppose, but XFC I still don’t find worrisome since in the likely event that it does end being overpowered it (and other things) will probably just eventually get patched. This isn’t the days were console games were just new and we have a billion iterations of SF2 to buy. Things have progressed to the point where it’s pretty easy to patch things if it becomes so completely egregious like people automatically are assuming it to be with rather little evidence and play time.
It’s more a matter of how long it will take to get patched if it comes to that point and how much detriment it will have caused to the game’s community by then.
Tron assist, Anakaris and Silver Samurai say “hi” and that’s just off the top of my head.
Who’s confirmed that Ryu is sucky already? He’s just not interesting. There’s a difference.
Also, who else is as basic at present? Closest person I can think of is maybe Wolverine, but he’s also gained more things like Ryu did, so…?
Okay, we’re agreed here, but so far I haven’t seen anything really stupid off of the general lack of tech-rolling that didn’t involve super AND XFC. Besides, the only things that seem to enforce no-tech-rolling are super jump Es, which could force you to do “safe damage” versus potentially getting more damage by tagging other people in.
I’m just not seeing the enormity of most of the problems that a lot of people are complaining about, perhaps because I always thought that hype and all the inevitably negative stuff surrounding it is largely idiotic. Also perhaps because I’m willing to actually give the game a chance.
No roll, no tech at all? Wowwww, OTG gonna be fun. But serious, no roll at all is lolwtf.
XFC 100% combos? For offense it’s gonna be fun to play with/watch. On defense though, guard cancel->100%? Idk…

SF4 has proven that patches and “editions” are lame. Capcom will nerf characetrs deemed “broken” by the online scrubs, which will only strengthen the ignored but potential top tier characters.
See how powerful Fei Long and Makoto are in SSF4: AE? The principle still applies.
lol Anakaris and SS (as well as a few others like Sakura and Ken) weren’t mentioned because they suck. Unless you’re VDO you aren’t going to pulling off these infinites with ease versus thinking opponents. Tron Proj. is something that can be abused by better characters for 100% and not that easy to setup vs top tier teams, which is why you rarely see it in high level matches- like glitched Juggs combos.
Chris is pretty much in the same category, he has mobility issues, can’t really cover much ground and his specials and supers seem quite situational and laggy. He and Ryu look like characters you have to devote entirely to be “decent.” So it’s not like they’re unplayable, but their existence needs more to be desired.
I can easily be wrong if some glitch or brokeness is found… but this is my superficial judgment.
You start out with one level and by the time you can achieve cycle 2 un-rollable air combos (smh) you get 2 which leads into a DHC or Kentucky Fried Cancel. Just have to pick a character that can do it with ease.
YEAH SON! Can’t wait to milk this game for all it’s worth! The fun will be in discovering how to abuse every ounce of brokeness.
