I don’t consider SSF4 to be mediocre, but that’s another argument entirely.
With the IC card system in the arcade, it really showed me just how much time top players devoted to the game. At the time, I was unemployed and could afford to spend an hour or two in the arcades everyday between searching for jobs. Before the console version came out, I had maybe 2500 matches under my belt. I’d go to the arcade and someone like Uryo or RF would be there, and they’d have 10,000. Not having a job enabled me to play more than I usually could - I couldn’t imagine how these guys got so many matches. And that doesn’t count the time they spent playing the CPU as a training mode.
Right now there’s really no sort of division in the FG community. If I want to go to a tournament, top players will be there. If I go to an arcade randomly, top players may be there. It’s like wanting to start a community basketball league and having Kobe Bryant show up. I don’t think SRK really appreciates the work top players put in to be good. It’s like we feel if we just studied a bit more, improved our game we could hang with them. At least, that’s how I used to feel. But I see now what it would take, and I just can’t do that.
That, plus in the end it degenerated into a thread where guys came to post about how they weren’t jacking off. You can’t really “no homo” that one and make it all better.
we need another Prince thread then, Valaris. I can already probably guarantee I will be first out. Hell, if I can’t be trusted with this, how can I be trusted for next years secret santa?
I be getting Collectors MvC3. And after playing MvC2 today and realizing how fucking terrible I am, I still can’t wait. Galactus fight looks SICK. Game seems slow enough that I don’t need to snort a line of coke in order to handle pulling off some of the combos
I still don’t understand the complaint/confusion about MvC2’s speed and MvC3’s speed. The only differences between the two me is that assists seems to come out slightly slower & leave slightly slower (but are invulnerable now) and Magneto no longer being (or sounding like he’s) on crack/speed (el oh el, a pun), the latter of which has caused endless bitching by people who largely probably sucked with Magneto to begin with.
It’s not like your respond time in Marvel needs to approach c or anything.
Don’t quit your job. Focus on art in your free time.
Elder’s words of advice.
It’s a different game, I don’t see why they tell themselves that they have to play MvC3. If they just want to play that crack, then play MvC2. If I play MvC3, I’ll probably pick someone like Dante since I was disappointed when I found out he wasn’t in MvC2.
From what I’ve seen, Magneto doesn’t seem to have his rush down powers from the previous game…
Dante seems overused, is he really that good, or are his combos just easy enough to learn to pull them off in the middle of a tournament involving an unfamiliar game?..
I also don’t get why people think being good at MvC2 is a necessary requirement for 3. I think it would help, but we get a lot of people in the noob forums saying they are playing 2 “just to get good at 3”. I think that’s flawed thinking. If all you’re concerned about it 3, than wait for 3.
At least you have a job, “worker bee”. What the hell is it that you do again?
None of those things are mutually exclusive.
All that served to do was remind me is now due to jury duty thing, I won’t have time tomorrow to finally start playing Devil May Cry. Hell, I probably won’t even have time to get to that thing on Thursday… (Or, rather, get there early enough to definitely get in.)
I just read about random things when I used to read Wikipedia. Now I basically read TVTropes like Wikipedia outside of random mythology articles on Wikipedia.
I have to find it funny that you ask a question about countries and then use the only “country” without people as the example, though.
Assuming approx. 4 minutes per match (which is probably a little bit conservative), 40,000 minutes, or 666 hours. If you’re playing 5 hours a day like Daigo, that still takes 133 days, or 4 months. 4 months of playing 5 hours a day. 4 minutes per match doesn’t even take into account time spent at the character select screen, and playing the CPU while waiting for the next opponent.
From what I can tell, these guys would finish work, go straight to the arcade, and just stay there until close. And then devote significant chunks of the weekend to it as well.
I dunno if Daigo still does his day job? I would imagine he quit but I have no idea.
Its funny…there are those assembly line workers who have no skills and no degree making like 70-80k a year simple bc they been there for like 20+ years. Shit like that really pisses me off sometimes
