Anyway, ThePurpleBunny knows what’s up. Sure, Tifa has the better body, but she’s the far more annoying and worthless character ultimately. Easily the worst female in FFVII who isn’t name “Lucretia” (or “Sephiroth”).

Sure, Tifa is far more bearable than FFVIII’s Rinoa, but that’s really not saying much. Outside of her body and providing expository backstory that causes Cloud to breakdown and forces her to help “rebuild” his mind, she’s just kind of…there. I’ll grant that her redesign in Advent Children was nice, but she didn’t do anything there either–then again, neither did anyone not named Cloud except for Vincent.

I’m just pointing out that it basically amounted to absolutely nothing, which utterly undermined it pretty immediately.
Trust me. I don’t like her character, but I was as disappointed as you are that despite seemingly manhandling Loz the entire time through sheer skill, the movie decides to go “lol nope”, have his ring tone be a mocking reference to the Final Fantasy victory, and then have him achieve victory merely by lazily flash stepping and tazing her once.
Like I said though, basically no one who isn’t Cloud gets to do anything in Advent Children, which is part of why that movie is ultimately bad even before you get into it undermining the fuck out of Cloud’s character development.
That movie was all fanservice and nothing more lol. I just took it for what it was.
How did it undermine Cloud’s character development?
He went from being a broody whiny f@ggutu wa throughout the entire game, into a three second burst of a maniacal finishing move.
And then his wan little limp-wristed arse crashed back into depression, throughout the majority of AC.

I’m not saying he should have been super chipper after Sephiroth exploded or whatever, but outside of no longer thinking he was an elite SOLDIER, there’s basically no real change aside from that revelation. Shrug.
It’s been a long time since I’ve played FFVII, much less cared about it given I never bothered finishing it. As such his false personality at the beginning of the game may be clouding my memory of what his personality was actually like after the Lifestream incident “fixed” him. I just don’t remember him being as morose as he was in Advent Children, though perhaps you could make an argument that it makes sense.
We went so long without talking about Fuccboi Fantasy and now the shitshow has returned.
