I’m not sure how many times I need to say it. In PM Jack has been pointed to the information about the completely utterly broken Reaction implementation in Vanilla. A Flag is a Reaction. It takes a minimum of five Reactions usually to get anything to happen. Thus if we add a “Moderation Needed” button, which the astute of you will note happened briefly last week, it takes five users to click that before anything comes of it. Or we can not have that, and people who are concerned about something can PM a mod.
To reiterate: PM a mod: one PM, one mod alert. One flag: nobody notices unless by accident. Two flags, nobody notices unless by accident. Three flags, nobody notices unless by accident. Four flags, nobody notices unless by accident. Five flags, post is flagged and sent to a somewhat hidden queue that most mods don’t notice.
I can not stress how unbelievably stupid this is. Don’t use the bot spam flag for anything other than bot spam. It doesn’t do anything useful, as seen above. I cannot fix it in the current system. In the system I would like them to update to, it’s actually more important that you don’t abuse the bot spam flag. In theory at that point a Moderation Needed flag would be useful, but that is not where we are at.
Having someone on ignore is absolutely irrelevant if you’re going to continue to mention that person, read their posts, and quote them. All without provocation 98% of the time. Sooooo, yea… That notion is a lot more plausible than you think it is.
Man where is the safe space button so I can give these butthurt ass niglets a place where they don’t have to see anything that offends them. You ol triggered tumblrite lesbian ass bitches. Sheesh. I’ve never seen so much crying here before.
@Phantom: Sure: so PM a mod if you have a concern. Mods aren’t psychic. I was running a tournament Friday night, gone all Saturday at a game conference, gone all Sunday at a game conference, and need to actually work today. The flags don’t work other than to annoy me because they encourage people to use a completely broken system that doesn’t work.
@Jack: Yeah! Because we want things to be better, let’s make things worse! The mods are only here and responsive, so let’s use the least productive method to vent our frustration!
When I have someone on ignore I read their posts anyway, lol. Then I un-ignore them after I’m not salty anymore (there’s really isn’t anybody here who I have that much of a problem with where I wish they wouldn’t post).
No amount of complaints to the higher ups is going to do anything about the situation we’re cryptically discussing lol. It takes place in a gray area in which the only response you’ll get is “deal with it.” It’s all fun and games until someone gets pissed off to the point where they hit the flag button to try and have something done about it or at least discourage the individual. Then one cries about the flag and the other gets in trouble. Meanwhile, the root of the issue remains fully intact just waiting to repeat the cycle once more.
@“The Martian”,
Control your emotions and stop hitting the flag button(that no longer exists). It doesn’t do anything. Next time there’s an issue, PM Preppy and see where it goes from there.
