Pretty sure most, if not all, people cannot run faster than a car that is coming at them, especially if it is already basically right on top of them to begin with. The problem with the intersection in question is that idiots in cars or bikes decide try to turn even when vehicles are clearly turning from the other direction and thus cannot go, meaning they end up idly in the cross-walk. Then, when the light changes for the pedestrians to go, they either turn relatively blindly because they only care about themselves or act confused about “what, why are these people acting like they have the right of way?” even though it is the driver themselves who is in the way, especially given how they tunnel vision.
Shit like and people generally being poor drivers since we are not evolved for it (and most people are idiots on top of that) is why I pretty much both never immediately step out into the street even though I almost always look both ways (unlike both too many pedestrians and drivers) and end giving way too drivers death-glares for doing stupid shit basically daily even when they are not horribly distracted.
I swear, that “you cannot talk on phones while driving” law might as well not have been passed if there is no way to actually enforce the damn thing, for starters.

Dude talking about how he wanted to throw his system out the window or some shit reminded me of one of my ps2’s. It was like my third ps2 and it had the DRE (Disc Read Error). I was trying to play some Katamari but kept getting the DRE. I lost it. I yanked that fuckin’ thing outta the tv stand, opened my front door, and chucked that fucker into the street. I wish I would have taken the game out first.
P.S. The only fighting game that ever made me mad is SFIV. Win or lose that shit pissed me off.
