SRK Lounge: Measure all you want, it's still tiny

not everyone handles snow well…snowocolypse nyc anyone lol.

Last year’s blizzard was hilarious. People were acting like the world had to shut down until everything was cleared out. I spent an hour in the driveway with a shovel and went to work in the morning as usual.

Man, this pre-Halloween snow storm is something. Snow tires? Not in October. But, as long as we don’t lose power, fuck it.

when new england and maine lose their shit over some snow…thats when you worry.

Luckily before it snowed today it rained a little bit so the snow didn’t stick. Last year was gruelingly crazy though. I wonder if we’ll get that much snow this year. God damn global warming!

Is it weird I’m actually kind of looking forward to shoveling? When I shovel I go into some sort of utterly serene state. In the beginning I’m like “Fuck I gotta go out there.” but once I’m out there I’m in Kami’s temple.

Weather it is or not?

Why you gotta go and be SLY, RSG3?

Peeps talkin’ 'bout weathering SSMB… genrecists.

Ahhhh snow. I remember when I lived in UT and it snowed 3 times a week during the winter (whick was practically every month other than June, July, and August). Most of these other states aren’t ready for it. Can’t handle the whiteness.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

Shoveling isn’t too much different from mowing the lawn. You’d be surprised at how often it takes up the same amount of time to shovel your driveway and walkway to mow your back and front lawn.

yeah but shoveling your driveway is much harder to procrastinate.

Actually if you live in a place where it doesn’t snow a lot, it’s quite easy to procrastinate.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

You can always say “Oh well… it’ll melt soon enough”.

(Hmmm…I can’t stop listening to that “Mitternacht” song, partly because I’m still trying to remember where I heard it before…if I ever did; it might just be one of my many cases of annoying, “false” deja vu.)

I’ve only ever seen snow in real life once IIRC, when I was like…8 or so. That was enough for me since I think it’s why I’m actually sensitive to cold unlike heat; hurray for pseudo-frostbite.

It’s also enough for me because people drive poorly enough already, even when it’s only raining. I don’t want to begin to imagine the amount of track accidents and fatalities regularly in areas that happen to have snow and black ice around this time of year given how idiotic most of humanity is and how utterly ill-equipped we as a species are to driving as a whole.

I’m pretty sure she can already do that, sans the music change, just by going :d:+:mk: into :qcf:,:qcf: + :k::k:.

So it would be called Resident Evil 2: Hokuto no Ken Edition? I mean, you’re playing as black people in a survival horror genre. You are already dead.

Ah, thanks as always for the Junji Ito stuff Stabby. I always like the way that he draws monster faces while somehow managing to (just barely) keep it realistic enough in all its detailed, supernatural glory. I didn’t really get that creeped out–especially compared to Army of One–until the very last page considering all of Hiroshi’s rather hilariously nonchalant (given the situation) yet understandable reactions. “God damn it…” indeed.

Reminds me I still need to look at Franken Fran after I saw how immensely fucked up a certain double-page spread looked due to TVTropes last night.

Speaking of Junji Ito, and this is a general question to everyone “here”, but did I link to The Enigma of Amigara Fault on SRK towards the beginning of the month? I forget. If not, then enjoy. ~<3

I loved Frankenfran.

The one with the bug cocoons was the lolz.

Junji Ito is awesome stuff.

SWBeta, I threw you the invite but I forgot that all you do is play random shit.

i heard the States was getting hit with a snow storm. Still hasn’t snowed here for me, but usually doesnt start until November or December anyways.

Here is the post I put up in the Skullgirls GD about my impression of the trip/game

Hey all, just wanted to finally sit down and give my impressions on skullgirls after finally getting to play yesterday when I got the chance to visit reverge. First of all, this was my very first time getting to play the game, I have watched most all videos they have released and try and soak up and keep up with any new info for the game.

As far as game experience I’ve played most fighting games at an average to above average level. From Darkstalkers to versus games to third strike to Blazblue. I would say that the game I got the most proficient with was MVC2 as well as third strike. Although I never really played competitively in either game I did play them at a higher level. So going in I had a basic understanding of how to apporach the general flow of a match.

I got there at about 2:30 or so (after missing a turn and trying to find the office lol) and was greeted warmly by the employees at Reverge. After getting to chat with the programmers about genearl game theory and meeting Alex Ahad (I forgot to bring my wacom tablet for him to sign ;__________________________; or my sketchbook to get a doodle or someting!) as well as some coffee (thanks a lot!) Peter took us to the room and me and my friend that I brought along got to sit down and play skullgirls.

My initial plan as far as characters I was going to play as was a team of two using peacock and parasoul. For some reason when I sat down and after watching the last WNF stream with skullgirls I tried out a team of 2 with Mrs Fortune and peacock. Out of all the characters I fell in love with Mrs Fortune the most. I think I was able to really bring out some of her strength with her headgames (lol). After about 3 straight hours of playing and over 50+ matches (I would say 90% of them had Mrs Fortune on the team) I came away sold more than ever on the game. The game itself has exceeded any and every expectation I came in having and I have to say this was one of the best fighting games I have ever played. Here are my overall thoughts on each of the characters and what I thought.

Mrs Fortune: Lets start with my soon to be main. From the first time I played her I felt so comfortable playing her and fell in love. As far as using her head, I found that getting a combo off and getting her head out as soon as possible in combination with calling it back was the most powerful way to play her. With her head she was very powerful, her j.HP was one of her best normals that had great priority and led to some great combos and mixups. She has a double jump and air dash, one of the best apporaches I had was to normal jump HP air dash HP. If the first one connected I was able to connect the second one and start the combo. If I got them in a combo I would do LP,LK,MK,HK to launch then jumping LP,LK,LK,HP,HK xx Head spike. At times this would hit the opponent OTG and I could get one last hit in, but sometimes it didn’t. Either way it let me combo the opponent and get my head off safely. This was where the real fun started. With her head off she became a real threat and you could really start some fun mixups/blockstrings. If you hit the opponent with a head attack (the one to reposition it, blood squirting one) it would knock them down and if you are close enough you can launch them from that into a combo. Her mobility is fantastic, she has great rushdown and can really keep constant pressure on the opponent. Definetly my favorite character overall. I found that my favorite assist for her was her standing MK. Didn’t get a chance to use Nyanti air too much but when I did hit the opponent with it and did the follow up with HP (head on) it placed me on the other side. I wish I had more time but that was something I found out later after time was nearing the end and I kept forgetting to use it. Her level 3 is really good to use at the end of combos but the super that I used most was her air super (with the tail sword). One combo I did with the head off was LP,LK,MK, HP (head hit), LP,LK,MK, HP xx Instant tail super. I might have been able to extend the combo more but I had most fun with that one lol. She’s an incredibly powerful character and has become my favorite. Oh yeah, with the head off j.HK becomes a really good normal to substitute for not having j.HP

Fillia: This was the other character that I ended up using the most. Actually surprised me that I enjoyed playing. She is a little slower than MF but I felt that although she was slightly slower she hit just a bit harder to make up for that. She has sevaral really good multi hitting normals that worked really well. Her j.MP (razor blade multi hit) was great to come in on the opponent if I knew they weren’t going to defend themselves at all, If I knew the opponent might try to counter hit or try a normal of their own, j.HP was great to come in with beacuse it had great prioirty and would usually beat out the opponent. I started using her more towards the end so my understanding of her wasn’t as strong as with MF. I loved using her c.MK as an assist to help with pressure as MF and keep combos going. I came away with feeling I could keep pressure on the opponent but still hold my own and counter attack if they tried to pressure me. I dropped some combos with her because I kept forgetting which normals did what (first day ;__:wink: I really like her and most of the games I played were with MF/Fillia. Her level 3 won’t hit Peacock if she is just standing next to you because she is too short lol.

Peacock: Great keep away, my friend who went with me played her mostly. Her runaway is great and he just kept shit on the screen for days. Her normals are different and the combos felt strange to me and not as fluid as MF or Fillia. I think I could play her more after some time in the lab with her and knowing her normals/specials better. Lenny was great to use, I got hit by him all the time with some great blockstrings from my friend followed by Argus Agony. It destroys Lenny and pushes your opponent into it. Fun character and full of style. I want to try her more when the game comes out.

Cerabella: Didn’t play her too much, not my style of character. Strong and im sure everyone has seen/heard what people say about her.

Parasoul: Played a little bit of her but I was dissapointed because I thought I would really enjoy playing as her but when I tried her I didn’t like it lol. As stated she doesn’t have very good mobility and I think the charge motions for her didn’t feel like they worked as well for me with the ‘marvel’ mindset I went into the game.

When I got a chance to play agianst one of the reverge employees who knew how to play the game pretty well the game felt amazing. Fast paced, frantic and every single great thing that was there in MVC2. Everything about the game felt natural and so well done. Such love is put into this game and everyone needs to spread the word and buy it and get everyone to play it. It is one of the best games I have ever played and plan to play it till my fingers fall off when it releases.

Thank you so much Peter and the rest of Reverge for letting me visit and get a chance to play the game. I wish I could have stayed longer and it was definetly a trip I won’t ever forget.

lol people too lazy to shovel snow.

It’s cold out, okay, you bundle up and get hot while shoveling. Why wouldn’t you want to just get out and start shoveling dat fluff? D:

its such a strange feeling when a child actor grows up and looks older than you do. still cant believe he was arrested for smoking weed. LOL.

Without Googling, is that Haley Joel Osment?

Black people? What in tarnation made you assume that they had to be black?! You and your stereotypes.

For shame…:shake:

Interesting overview. What did you think of the speed, and the dashes of the characters you played?

Yes

That’s Fat Mac.
