SRK Lounge Holidays Edition

lol i didnt know bout farside as a kid but i read those tradeback’s and died laughing. garfield lost its luster super fast for me.

Ya I never read any recent Garfield, but I believe you.

Owning this is one of my biggest achievements.

It’s honestly 50lbs. And I can go back to read it over and over.

I don’t know if any source influenced my comedy more than Calvin and Hobbes and Farside. I read both those religiously as a kid.

Calvin & Hobbes was one of my old time favourite comics. I miss the days when it was Herman, Far Side, and C&H. Now everything is aimed at chicks and sucks. Why the fuck is Foxtrot still going?

There are still quality funnies out there, like Sherman’s Lagoon.

…actually, I think that’s really the only one I can think of. When I think back to when I was a kid and how excited I was to get to the comics section of the paper to read Calvin & Hobbes and The Far Side, that makes me feel so ancient.

But what if their rip-off powers were used for good instead of evil?

Also, these.

Everything else out there is weird and depressing though.

I think my favourite playthrough is when I turned evil and turned down early angry sex with Jack. All the self esteem issues and stuff make her so much hotter than Miranda…just like in real life.

My second favourite playthrough is when I got everyone killed, and only Joker remains. God, I hope there’s some official canonical way of running with that. MASS EFFECT 3: JOKER’S REVENGE

I’m excited about Ashley Williams’ return though, I hope she will not react badly to me having all sorts of crazy alien sex behind her back. Having sex with aliens is just an appealing game feature to me, that is why I am going to jump onto this Star Wars: The Old Republic thing if I find out you can bang Gamorreans or Sand People or whatever.

We can’t save the universe together in ME3 unless you get it on PC though.

Yeah I always thought Hobbes & Bacon was extremely well done. Who drew it though? It looked surprisingly close to C&H.

Sherman’s Lagoon can be good, so can a few others, but nowhere near the levels of past comics. Sure current comics have some groaners, and steal some classic material, but nothing has compared to some of the older classics.

They were done by some random webcomic guys I think, who are now defunct. Honestly it’s not that hard to ape Bill Watterson’s more simple panels, I mean there’s mountains of reference material out there already, and it’s a simple newspaper comic.

You’re right, nothing can touch Calvin & Hobbes and Far Side, they are just the right blend of charm and quality. Maybe I was too young for Peanuts, I think it’s a classic but the humour is not quite up there for me. Kind of like how I know to objectively appreciate MASH and Cheers, but Seinfeld is just way plain funnier to me. Again, maybe it’s the age thing.

I used to think Mutts was really stupid, but then I got old and now I love it.

I used to hate Family Circus, but then I got old and now I think it’s hilarious in a completely ironic sense. Oh those kids!

One of the craziest things was when For Better or For Worse restarted its continuity, it was like Crisis On Infinite Earths in the funnies, messed with my head.

…holy fuck I am old.

I hate Family Circus. I dunno, rubs me the wrong way. Still i read that shit every lunch break at work.

I really like Zits, Shoe, and Dilbert. Everything else is hit or miss.

Edit: That’s formatted so weird…and it wont let me fix it…How odd.

Yeah, I haven’t read For Better or For Worse since the dog died

Dilbert is awesome, especially considering I work in an office now and deal with some of that stupidity on a daily basis

I used to when I was younger, but now I can’t hate on Family Circus, shit is too real.

THAT KID HAS PUT AN INAPPROPRIATE AMOUNT OF PEANUT BUTTER ON HIS BREAD DO YOU GET IT

Honestly Family Circus could be renamed to 1950’s WASP and it would make way more sense.

Man lint that is the first time I’ve EVER laughed at family circus

But he had puppy that LOOKED JUST LIKE HIM.

Fuck we’re old, for being able to rag on that, waxing nostalgic.

Spent from my Ocho, using Fapatalk.

What if they are Catholic, though?

We already buried that in a box in the garden as part of a ritual to ward off evil spirits. Have you just never watched HGTV?

I’m all about eyebrows. So why did you leave out AnnaSophia Robb???

kizer is awesome, we used to post on the same message board for art (actually that reminds me i havent talked to him in awhile :frowning: ) I dont mind stuff like fanart I’m talking more about the stuff like the aforementioned Calvin window cling of him peeing while smiling evilly.

I don’t really CARE for the strips of Calvin grown up, but I don’t mind it. Just stuff like merchandise sold using their image, when Watterson never wanted that

yeah, i keep freaking over the fact i am gonna be discussing printed comics, and having to rewind a movie or adjust the tracking just to watch it again, to my kids.

also, the challenges of finding porno…it wasn’t always as easy as finding somebody who tossed out there stash into an elementary school parking lot

Addicted to Sons of Anarchy. I’ve watched two and a half seasons of it in the past 5 days.
