Arch Enemy is ok to me. i bought one of their CDs used from some indie shop around here for 3 bux. it was before Angela joined. they got better after that imo. i don’t have a problem with chicks in metal. Louisiana got da baddest bitchs. i got a problem with visuals and atmosphere upstaging talent. imo if you play that goth shit, it’s like you almost HAVE to have a girl in the band just so you won’t get called a bunch of homos.

I think I’m the only person from this miserable city that posts in the lounge. I’m fine, having been nowhere near there. Not that I would go near a rap video shooting even if it was completely safe anyway.
“Ironically”, this was on 7th street, so it’s basically on the same street as the police station **and **a courthouse, if only farther “down” and closer to the port of Oakland. Just goes to show that dumb-asses around here have even less respect for police than usual even though I’d say, surprisingly, Oakland police aren’t bad–riot response and my general distrust of police (or most authority figures, especially those with weapons) aside. They’re just completely underfunded & understaffed, get next to no help from the community ever even when they actively try to help and now have to deal with an utterly incompetent mayor in the form of Quan.
I can understand people not liking police and thinking that all they do is (racially) profile and abuse their powers when they’re not being ineffectual because they’re all corrupt thugs and bullies and what not. However, it’s like half the time, the complaints who appear on the news about it are hypocrites who actively go out of their way to not help or even keep others from helping with that “stop snitching” bullshit. In a less obvious instance of hypocrisy, I’ve also noticed a lot of people on the news, largely community or faith “leaders”, also complaining about how violent Oakland has gotten & is getting and how it “needs to stop”–no shit–while at the same not denouncing the repeated insinuations on the (same) news about how the “black community” and other minorities just shouldn’t trust the police.
You can’t have it both ways. It should seem obvious, but it’s like everyone is so damn blind here. Then again, I suppose that’s hardly any different from the rest of America at this point. It’s just more egregiously violent about it than most other cities. [/rant]
