This job search is depressing. The only thing in this area are jobs that I’m physically incapable of (warehouse jobs, etc) or in retail stores.
Am I being too prideful in the fact that I’d rather lose my home and be forced to declare bankruptcy than go work in retail management again? I was a manager for several companies, and the way they all treat their managers is shameful and dehumanizing. I was in the worst mental health of my life during that phase, and I refuse to go back to it.
edit: For some perspective, It’s a small 1br/1ba duplex, and several friends have offered to take me and my two cats in while I get back on my feet, and I would require a job that pays around $30k a year to live off of and pay off my student loan debt, more than most retail managers make. I was an experience manager and only made $24k a year.
I’d obviously go deliver pizzas if it the alternative was being homeless. I’m not there yet.
i would think losing my house and declaring bankruptcy would be more shameful than lowering myself to take a certain class of job. But i also am not aware of your specific experiences or situation.
