Speaking of bullshit related to that era, I’m watching the Double Dragon movie right now.
This shit is so offensive to me as a gamer. Ignoring the fact that the movie came out like 10 years too late (ala Super Mario Bros, another insult of a film), everything about this movie is just…
This is some sort of sin, that I’m watching right now.
(it’s streaming on Netflix, if anyone else wants to see how retarded this is)
Ah but the he saving grace though… Double Dragon featured my baby Alyssa Milano! (my previous #1, pre-Halle.) She wasn’t even at her best looks-wise there due to some silly blonde hair (and a dumb outfit) if I recall, but she was still unbelievably hot as always. Aside from that, the movie is unintentionally funny to me just based on the rest of the cast— you got “Bailey” from Party of 5, along with Mr. “Only the Strong” Dascascos AND the T-1000! I can’t help but think of them all as those characters…and that’s quite an odd mix of people there.
*watching the latest Invisible Walls podcast, it continues to annoy me when folks just ignore the existence of the great Modnation Racers whenever there is talk about kart racers… one of the dudes actually said there hadn’t been anything to really surpass the Mario Kart games…? WHAT the fuck, man? Modnation KILLS that shit in every possible way. It’s not even close. The new portable one is indeed a bit inferior in terms of comp though since there is no online multiplayer… but I’m not sure why anyone could consider Mario Kart to still hold the championship belt at this point. Modnation-- better sense of speed, better graphics of course, better tracks and characters since the potential for that is nearly infinite via the creation tools, and there’s less “questionable” bullshit going on, therefore I’d consider the competition to be a bit more serious with deeper strategy. There’s no guaranteed “comeback from last place!” shit. There is a wormhole warp effect powerup that occurs more often the further back in the crowd you are, but even that can’t just instantly turn the whole race in your favor. (you’ll warp ahead of maybe 2 or 3 people, but you still won’t likely be close to first place if you were way back in 7th or 8th when you got it.) Sheeeit, now I feel like playing this again.
It’s a shame they went off to make the Little Big Planet kart racer game… visually, I prefer the style of Modnation, and LBK probably doesn’t have the same depth of customization in terms of characters.
Man, lack of online multiplayer on the Vita version was such an unfortunate thing for the Vita version… they had my money…it was a guaranteed day-one sale for me…UNTIL I found out about that. I still will likely get that once I get Vita though.
Oh yeah, that’s definitely on the list… everything I’ve seen with the new Sega kart racer is looking good. Haha, the Mario Kart franchise got left in the dust quite a long time ago. It would be interesting to see a new Modnation game with transforming vehicles like that, then you could have design ideas for 2 forms of one vehicle…hell yeah. Ooh, that brings to mind the vehicles from M.A.S.K.! “Tracker’s gonna lead the mission, and Spectrum’s GOT THAT SUUUPERRR VISIONNNN! MASK!”
…which reminds me; sadly, I never got Miles Mayhem with his vehicle Switchblade. That was THE shit in terms of the MASK line of toys. Sooner rather than later, it was all gone from toy shelves and the cartoon was off the air. I may have to rely on the internet, but I may still want to get Mayhem/Switchblade one day… and speaking of the old toy nostalgia here, I went to a local comics/collectibles shop a few days ago. I saw Soundwave, but he wasn’t in a box, nor did they have his little cassette minions, and it was a bit on the raggedy side, like whoever owned it previously repeatedly threw it around their room back in the day. Of course I just couldn’t settle for that. Soundwave needs to be in good condition and I’d prefer at least some of the tapes (preferably Rumble and Laserbeak…the toy version of Ravage was kinda lame compared to how awesome it looked in the cartoon) be included.
I’ll need to devote a little vacation time just for gaming… there’s so much to get caught up on at this point it’s just crazy.
I feel like shit. Been having migraines for three days straight now, and didn’t sleep well this morning, thanks to an attack that kept me awake till at least 3AM. I don’t know how much sleep I actually got. Went to the clinic yesterday and got some Advil and some stuff called Relpax, but so far they haven’t completely eliminated the pain. As long as the pain is present, it’ll keep coming back stronger while I sleep.
It’s all good, man. It’s not like I gave you an asshole response, just an opinion. I think so, anyway.
@Stabby I don’t like them, either. They’re cool games if you’re a creative bastard, but from a gameplay perspective, they’re not that good as platformers.
Are you ever coming back to Diablo III? If you aren’t, let me use your account again so I can multi-box 2 Witch Doctors for double the loot. Yes, I’m serious.
It’s my birthday…so far I’ve been woken up twice by people calling me when I am trying to sleep in. Fuckers. Trying to slow me down when I try to get shitfaced tonight
Hey man, If you want the soundwave toy or new versions, youve got some choices.
Older
Hasbro Reissue (Toys R us exclusive) - Technically its a blue soundblaster, meaning it has an enlarged chest door to hold two cassettes at a time.
This one came with laserbeak and ravage.
I have it.
There is a new Voyager sized (7 inch/22 $) Cybertronian armored vehicle based on his look from the recent video games.
It will come with a data disc version of Laserbeak that autotransforms. It should be out in 1/2 months. ITs a general release available st Target,Walmart etc.
If you have the money , there is a slavishly detailed G1 Masterpiece version sold in Japan coming out January next year with a Masterpiece Laserbeak.
There will be masterpiece two packs of Rumble/buzzsaw, and Frenzy/Ravage as well for about $60.
All these MP cassettes will fit in the G1 toy too which is cool.
Soundwave figure height will probably be in the 8-9 inch range.
Goddamn. Alright, I’ll try and see if I have your e-mails and info around some place still. I’m too lazy to do it right now, but when I do, I’ll stream it for hilarity.
