No clue, I honestly dont know much about the position, I work alongside 2 of them everyday but handle the actual payroll and getting that sent out to our clients. I know the flow of how it all goes and will be trained in actually using the system. In my current position I don’t use my computer too often aside from checking emails and the such and will go from that to using it almost all day.
I got it because one of them left and I will be filling the empty position. Thank god for growing up on the internet so I should be able to pick up everything pretty quickly.

Yeah, it’s not that hard. If you’re used to using a Unix-like system, then the mainframe isn’t too hard. Most times, they won’t let you touch the console until you’ve been there for a while. But once you’ve been there for a while, it’s smooth sailing.
Our payroll stuff is really high-priority. I don’t mess around when something starts happening to stuff like that and billing. But other than that, I’m usually posting on SRK and watching netflicks. Back when I had a partner, I’d be playing Diablo 2 single player.
Tips: Learn your hardware. You should know where every machine in the data center is, because there’s nothing worse than not know what someone is talking about when they ask you to check something on a machine. Learn your commands and what they do.Those are your lifelines and if you know what each command actually does, then you’ll be able to both identify problems and communicate that to the admins that can fix them. Don’t be afraid to ask a question. Seriously, you may get some flack for it and get teased a bit, but if you remember it, that should only happen once and it’s much better than making a mistake that causes someone else a bunch of work.
