With the exception of Spiral/Sentinel which is start trap, dash, repeat until you’re too far out, the other teams required forethought. You couldn’t just fill the screen, you had to anticipate your opponent’s next move and block that path because 1 miss = wave dash and your shit getting opened.
at the level the game is now, it’s less about lockdown and more about one hit kills and resets

I wish Spiral/ Sent was half as easy as Morrigan/ Doom, Strider/ Doom is also by no means as easy as Zero by himself. Still have no idea why people wanted Strider when Zero was doing and is still doing everything he can but better. The funniest part about it is that Zero doesn’t even have to summon formation B, he just holds a button down for it and cancels most of his moves to use it. Zero is so bonkers.
