Late, but speaking of paying too much for food, I remember it was a few years ago when I first started working at Red Lobster. Was babysitting my little brother and we were watching Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. No big deal, I’ve seen the movie dozens of times. So he leaves with his ma and I go to Walgreens to score some crack (Mountain Dew). Go to the counter and see they have these new Wonka bars. I look on the wrapper and it talks about how there is a chance to win a Golden Ticket. I swear to Thunder God I thought this was some kind of sign. I buy $40 worth of Wonka bars. Took them home and didn’t win shit.

i’ll allow “competent” but nope at “amazing.” i’m not knocking C & C’s talent. they have talent- but they also suck. it’s so crazy, that every time you talk about C & C, i listen to one of their songs to make sure it’s not me. it’s not me. not a single song i’ve heard so far was enjoyable to listen to. maybe i’m listening to the wrong stuff. what is your favorite song from them?

Fred Savage knows what’s up. Fred Savage is also upset that C & C doesn’t speak to his emotions like they do to other people because they are Blink 182 + Saves the Day + a little bit of Dredg thrown in and that is a shitty combination.

Yeah okay, except this asshole has no range, line delivery, the most generic lyrics I have ever heard, and is a cry baby. Its a step backwards from what Coheed is in almost every aspect.
What makes Coheed so good despite their simplicity at times is the way Claudio delivers his lyrics. Its chaotic, and sort of inconsistent. His voice ranges from high notes, to low screams, to high screeches and everything else in between.
The rhythm guitar is pretty simple most of the time, and a lot of the songs use the same structure during choruses, but its always Travis’ leads that back them up perfectly with Claudios lyrics. And, now that Josh is back in the band, the drums are retaining their jazz/hip hop groove to them that has been missing in recent albums.
A lot of their songs also change two or three times throughout and will end up sounding like a completely different tune.
Claudios lyrics are better than anything I’ve heard in recent memory, and I firmly stand by that. Poetic, intelligent, and with an underlying brutality that offsets the often upbeat music. Hes also capable of weaving a story while keeping lyrics relateable.
