The thing is, I could play Japanese dudes in other games on GGPO (Last Blade 2, Samurai Shodown V SP, A2) and it was fine. Maybe a little delayed but still extremely playable.

Well CPS2 and older SNK games don’t have much information to send so it’s a lot better than trying to play 3s, but even then it’ll never be a perfectly clear match. I played Oouchi in VSAV and clorets in A2 for such a long time that I stopped caring if I lost a game cause of a spike that made me drop a combo, it was fun just playing against them and I learned a lot about the games regardless of winning or losing
