Exca and donphan have basically the same switch ins except exca has less. Yea exca is weak to fire but fire types arent switching into a STAB eq from a maxrd out base 135 attack stat. Also that steel typing gives excadrill many more opportunities to switch in, especially if you run special defense bulk on him. Donphan has good physical bulk but he doesnt have any recovery to back it up

Exca can also be made to hard counter clefable cause fuck that ho

I just think you install die to opposing Talonflame + support. Zapdos helps you there. Donphan is outclassed bro, if you wanna keep him that’s your choice but you can optimize that

Or take out jell and Donphan and add rotom-w and gengar

both zap and talon are weak to rock, and stealth rock. Dealing with Landorus-Therian or any ground type might cause problems.

I think Infernoman just likes the role compression Donphan has, but yeah on second glance, in the long run it might be better to find something better. If anything, Heatran is another solid answer to Talonflame.

Honestly, I’ve come to realize recently that teambuilding from scratch has become quite an annoying chore in this metagame. Too many threats and not enough ways to deal with them; while not x-copying generic variations of the same OU cores that players can already see right through in previews. Sigh

What does gengar do? Lulz

Which is what is causing me frustration. Trying to make a new team from scratch without always falling back on staples (especially me who is avoiding my same old mons) is annoying. A rotation system or seasonal roster would make this easier and more interesting.

maybe try a different archetype? I know what you are describing. Sometimes is just better to try something very different, it might even give you ideas on your old teams depending on how your team struggles versus other cancer balance builds

he does more then Donphan and jelly

In what way? He doesnt even fill the same role

well if you take out jell which is weak to both grass, dark, ghost, gengar could replace him since you have a way to kill fairies, while you take out Donphan for rotom-w, cause rotom-w is better and is only weak to grass. Or take out mega-Altaria since it has like 4 weaknesses,

Rotom-w, talonflame, Landorus-Therian, Ferrothorn, Sableye-Mega, Gengar is the way I would go.

or Altaria-Mega, rotom-w, Heatran, zapdos, weavile, Reuniclus

Or just wait till Sun and Moon come out and hope the meta changes

It’s like he wasn’t paying attention to the core I wanted to work with. Jelly and Ferro compliment each other and cover their weaknesses. M-Altaria has all 4 of its weaknesses covered by these two, and is knock off immue while being a good offensive hitter.

It’s impossible to cover every threat. Don’t waste time trying… Just try to build a solid team that synergizes well and follow your plan. Trying to work multiple contingencies into your team is just asking for a migraine.

Cover weaknesses, flow well, and have a plan. Stop trying to beat everything because you can’t. You WILL run into something that blows you up. You can’t build a “perfect” team in this game.

Why not just play vs people here and see what your team needs.

snip computer fing up

Oh yeah, @BullDancer I’m free right now.

Gengar has the defenses of a piece of wet paper, jellicent does not

rotom is also better the jell, and only has 1 weakness, thats why i said use him with gengar, Though I would still rather use Landorus-Therian over donphan

Rotom doesn’t make bullshit ass Scald a non-factor and Scrubdorus doesn’t Spin. I do like Zapdos over Smogonbird on this team though… It doesn’t seem to be giving you anything other than a fast Taunt.

I like Landorus-Therian, cause both zap and flamebird will have to deal with rock moves, were Landorus-Therian not so much. And he can be a lighting rod for jell. Unlike hippo, Landorus-Therian cant be hit by spikes or toxic spikes also.

ok made the changes. Had a lot of fun paralyzing teams.
