honestly, i think tyranitar might be the top guy used as he’s the best pokemon who resists ghost and dark attacks, especially with gengar, greninja, and aegislash running around
dark attacks aren’t so bad as fairies resist dark, but ghost attacks are really freaking good (especially when only 2 types resist it), but i will agree, he’s not this super duper awesome pokemon, he’s still really good don’t get me wrong, but he’s going to be more like scizor, number 1 out of necessity
if you wanna use machamp, i’d suggest using this set but tweaking the EVs a bit
Machamp @ Lum Berry
No Guard / Adamant
232 HP / 252 Atk / 16 SpD / 8 Spe
Dynamic Punch
Bullet Punch
Knock Off
Ice Punch
Yes, this is the standard Attacking lead Machamp from 4th gen but with knock-off instead of payback, it works well this gen with all the ghosts running around and it really helps in getting rid of those annoying rocky helmets. speed EVs are to outspeed blissey and ttar, ice punch for dragons, bullet punch for priority, etc. he’s pretty straight forward but still pretty good
two pokemon i think that are slept on are hydreigon and mandibuzz
mandibuzz has really good bulk but i really have no clue what it does
hydreigon is pretty damn good but doesn’t have the bulk to keep taking the hits like ttar and mandibuzz do, also being 4x weak to fairy doesn’t help, on the other hand, choice scarf sets seem to be real good
all mandibuzz does is knock off everything while roosting a lot of dmg off. other than that it isn’t too great. does get whirlwind. it has taunt/uturn/toxic but those aren’t amazing or anything, but something like knock off/roost/whirlwind/toxic sounds annoying.
basically as far as annoyers go, this guy has made me feel worse than loltimeforrng klefki
Mandibuzz? Slept on? His usage increased once foul play became unresisted by steel.
Hydreigon is definitely not slept on, his standard choice specs set is just as good as ever.
EDIT: Only issue is, you might want to invest in U-Turn with Hydreigon, if you do plan to use him with specs.
I completely agree. Hydreigon is dat dude with Sticky Web support, checks Aegislash, and has godly coverage. Mandibuzz is damn near indestructible, has a plethora of useful support moves, and Overcoat means that you get to no-sell Sandstorm and Hail, as well as be immune to Spore, Sleep Powder, and such.
forgot about foul play
one of my friends thinks hydreigon and clefable are top 5 prebank, he got to top 10 on showdown in a day with drei/clef/ferro/chomp/mega blastoise/aegis and i don’t see drei/clef used much at all.
i beat him 5-1 with venusaur tho D:
and defog. lol yeah that makes him a nice pseudo spinner. nice support overall. obviously that worth will go down post bank, but it’s nice to have now.
A mono-type flying team is probably the easiest to make, followed by steel and dragons imo.
steel i think is easier, water is up there but less effective nowadays, and i like the idea of ghosts but they might not have enough.
the real challenge is fire.
pre bank steel: aegis, scizor, ferrothorn, magnezone, lucario [mega], excadrill. can have klefki, bisharp, metagross, mega aggron lol, mega mawile, skarm, forretress woo.
post bank adds empoleon, heatran, jirachi, etc.
ground is not too terrible post bank, with garchomp, excadrill, that rabbit with huge power, landorus, torterra, water/ground guys, and hippowdon
the real real challenge is ice.
dragon is probably the easiest to make, there’s only like…9 dragons right now
lol challenge accepted, I will not rest until I’ve created a viable mono-type ice team. Sometime after Pokebank gets released, we gotta have a monotype tourney.
avalugg, megaabomasnow, mamoswine, froslass, weavile, kyurem-b
not so hard
Weeee I lose to Lucario 100% of the time. And Terrakion. And a whole lot of other things I’m forgetting, fuck that lol
you have cloyster that is ou
kyurem b i guess
and that’s about it
fire is funny because they SR and you’re just like welp
really, avalugg and froslass are there to make sure shit is okay for the rest of the team, then you just go in hard, pound their face in
you’re not taking hits with that team and there’s no time to set up when you’re weak to everything in the world (well…sure feels like it)
Mono-water is excellent, water is quite literally only resisted by itself, grass, and dragons.
You can literally sweep with choice specs surf from Seismitoad(in rain) if your opponents monotype team isn’t built right.
Lol. Anybody ballsy enough to run an Ice or Fire type mono team has my utmost respect… Those teams will be hemorrhaging HP every switch…
ballsiest is definitely running a team consisting of:
butterfree, ledian, ninjask, masquerain, megapinsir, vivillion
