I like where it is now. It emulates the sort of decision you make at the start of the hunger games, where you can hide or go for supplies. The biggest downside is that if its 1v1, and you alternate turns stealthing, nobody could get hit. Thatās where some of the items may come in handy. Or possibly the arena mods. In short I have ways around it if it becomes a problem.
Have you considered making Sponsor Gifts private instead of having the capsule contents publically announced? You could either just say that āX has received a capsuleā or not mention it in the thread at all.
Either that, or possibly make an item (like gift wrap or something) that makes the gifted item private.

Everything in this game is designed to be known by everyone, with the exception being the player abilities (and the grenade last game). I think if you start letting gifts be hidden, you have to start letting scavenges be hidden, and then nobody knows anybodies stats and then the game suddenly becomes more random and less political.
I think secret gifts could be fun thematically, but logistically I donāt like where it takes the game
